It is very ironic that despite Luis Suarez often criticizing the British Media, he is now using them to push through a transfer from Liverpool to Arsenal. We however won’t complain, as this is hugely positive news for the Gunners in their pursuit of the Uruguayan forward.

Suarez has been speaking to the Guardian and the Daily Telegraph and in both interviews he reiterated his desire to leave Liverpool and has called on them to fulfill their promise.

Promises not kept

Juventus could have signed the Liverpool forward last summer but the enigmatic character rejected the move under an agreement he reached with his parent club.

He said:

The Luis Suarez saga is getting a bit boring now- will he or wont he push for his move from Liverpool and will Arsenal pay the asking price to get their man. How much truth is there in the articles we have been reading?

We have been fed a great deal of information from two of the clubs more trusted sources, BBC’s David Ornstein and The Mirror’s John Cross, yet none has come to fruition.

On the 2nd August, 4 days ago now, Ornstein published an article about Suarez’ supposed consideration to hand in transfer request and the threat of legal action to push things along. However, there has been no such movement on this front and we are no closer to a resolution in this saga.

Brendan Rodgers further stirred the pot yesterday over the rumbling Suarez transfer situation by claiming "I always associated Arsenal with class" following our latest bid.

The Liverpool boss went onto reiterate that his prized asset was not for sale.

“I have to admit I was surprised by their bid of £40m and £1... I always associated Arsenal as a club with class,” he said with cutting incision.

“There may be playing a game there, but we will just move on and do our own work, and the message is constant: we do not want to sell.

Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino has admitted Cesc Fabregas holds his future in his own hands, with the former Arsenal star attracting interest from his former club as well as Manchester United.

Speaking after his sides 8-0 demolition of Santos, where Fabregas scored twice and looked his scintillating best during a second half appearance.

Decision down to Cesc

Martino said that although he expects the midfielder to stay, the decision is ultimately down to him.

Arsenal are ready to revive their interest in Swansea defender Ashley Williams after their injury problems mounted, forcing the hand of Arsene Wenger to spend some of the money available to him.

Fans have been left frustrated by Wenger’s inability to spend during this summer window but may now get their wish as he finally looks to remove the shackles and buy some players.

Williams the man

Several sources have indicated that Gunners scouts watched the Welsh international on Thursday night against Malmo and they would have been impressed with the 28-years-old performance, albeit against weak opposition.
