You'll recall both Tomas Rosicky and Bacary Sagna have been linked to varying degrees with exits from Arsenal this season. Rosicky has been linked with Dortmund, Schalke and Galatasaray, while Sagna is apparently keen to return to France.

It looks like at least one of these is false.

I like Wojciech Szczesny. I met him last Monday. But he often puts his foot in his mouth, and tempted fate in a recent interview about Arsenal’s recent form, and the race for the top 4.

He made an excellent point about Arsenal’s current grinding out of results and defensive solidity:

“I think in the last 15 minutes when they put the pressure on we handled it quite well. We didn’t have a lot of height in our defence today so set pieces were a big test and we handled it brilliantly.

I don’t think it’s all about the save – it’s about the team performance. We kept another clean sheet. We’ve not been conceding a lot of goals recently so that’s very important.

Never trust Sir Alex Ferguson. After claiming he’d rest the likes of Carrick and Rooney against Arsenal and play a strengthened side against Chelsea, he did exactly the opposite, and took a point away from the Arsenal game, while losing to Chelsea. In some ways this is helpful, as it’s reconfirmed my hatred for Manchester United.

But it does leave Arsenal in a somewhat sticky position, with Chelsea ahead of them regardless of their result against Spurs, and with the possibility of a Spurs win leaving the Gunners in 5th and relying on the results of other teams.

You’ll recall me writing a couple of weeks ago about Arsenal’s interest in defensive midfielder Maxime Gonalons. The Mirror are of the opinion that Arsenal have sent scouts to watch him frequently and are stepping up their interest ahead of a £15m move.

There have been too many links to Gonalons for there to be nothing in it, but considering Arsenal last ‘stepped up’ their interest a couple of weeks ago I’d call rehash on this one.

Despite a less-than-brilliant turn as a number 9 against Manchester United (partially due to his limited mobility), many expected Lukas Podolski to be dropped for the remainder of the season, simply because he couldn’t do the right job there.

However Arsene Wenger appears more than keen to start him there again while Olivier Giroud is out. In an interview with Arsenal Player, he said:

“I believe so, he has the qualities because he is a good finisher,
