Arsenal will lodge a £42.5million bid for Luis Suarez in the hope that the deal can be sealed before next weekend’s Emirates Cup campaign.

The offer rises from the £40m+£1 offer tabled before by Arsenal in the hope of triggering the Uruguayan’s release clause, however Arsene Wenger is endlessly unlikely to rise above £45million for the hitman.

With Liverpool holding out for £50million, it is likely that no deal will be struck until Wenger dishes out the extra funds, despite Suarez representatives pushing for a move away from Anfield.

Suarez wants to be playing Champions League football, a trait that Liverpool are unlikely to fulfil in the coming years, which is a fact that their star player knows all too well. This wanting for top European competition coupled with the fact that Suarez has openly criticised life in Liverpool all point towards the exit doors for the 26-year-old.

The new Torres

Yet Wenger is still unlikely to break or even equal the British transfer record Fernando Torres set when he moved from Liverpool to Chelsea for £50million. The Frenchman seems to be afraid of “the Torres effect” – a player failing to live up to their unbelievable price tag.

Arsenal would need some kind of public intent from Suarez, a verbal or written transfer request which would make Arsenal Suarez’ favoured destination.

Suarez silence

Yet Suarez has remained positively silent on the subject of recent weeks.

Suarez’s radio silence could put the brakes on Arsenal’s big bid, with Liverpool likely to keep their star man if he does not stake his intent to leave.

The whole saga could run cold – just as the Higuain deal did – with Arsenal either pulling out or being priced out. Either way the deal could break down and the Gunners are left with just Yaya Sanogo to show for their efforts in July.

If Liverpool do indeed rebuff the £42.5million deal – which they are likely to do – Wenger will come back with £45million. But don’t expect him to go any higher.

Listen, If Liverpool want 50 million for the guy then pay it ! This business of offering 42 or 45 is a load of bollox. Pay the bloody fee and get on with it.

ever knew Suarez worth £40 million until Wenger bidded for him. Hope this will served as a wake up call for him not to be in a hurry to sell his star players.

The problem Arsenal has is that LFC have said on numerous occasions there's no way they'll sell Suarez to Arsenal and pretty much guarantee LFC doesn't get top 4. There's zero possibility Arsenal gets Suarez they'll sell him for half as much money to someone on the continent before they sell to arsenal. With that in mind I'm convinced this whole thing is Wenger posturing for you the fans. I bet you Wenger is chasing the real targets in secret during all this and those real targets aren't big names to excite so he's pretending to go after Suarez. That to me seems pretty shady and misleading if I were an AFC fan I'd go insane. Bottom line don't put too much into what you're reading in the papers about Suarez coming bc there's 0% chance of that happening

@ por por & chico. you pair make me laugh. you pair are two braincells short of being cabbages...really! it's obvious that liverpool have to sell. especially after his most recent comments about the latest squad acquisitions, and not forgetting how disappointed he is with his life in liverpool, and not forgetting how rodgers and former players have taken it upon themselves to publicly slate him in the press. this leaves him and the club backed up into their respective corners knowing the only real solution is to sell him, as if he stays through force by the club, he'll be villified by almost everyone at anfield. the question to be answered is how much he will cost? the only way arsenal will get him is if a bid between £45-£50 will get accepted. any more and arsenal will pull out leaving you with an unhappy player and a squad still not good enough to get into the top four. this is a fact, so any one of a sound mind will know suarez will have to go. nuff said

If it's so obvious that Liverpool are keen to get rid of him then why is Rodgers has been so desperate to keep him? Also, it doesn't make sense that they want to get rid of their best striker (who happens to be one of the best in the premier league) when they haven't got a replacement yet or even linked with another striker. He's their only hope of getting back in the Top 4. Unless you think Aspas is the right candidate but anyone with sound mind wouldn't think so.

I might only have two brain cells left, but that's still 2 brain cells more than you.

"55 mil minimum?? You crazy bro? Cavani has been hitting 30+ goals for the past 3 seasons at Napoli and it was PSG that bid for him so you can't really compare the 2 players. If it wasn't PSG, I expect Cavani's transfer fee to be lower"

err, no mate, his release clause was that much so ANY club would have had to mmet that figure.

In reagrds Suarez, 1) he has 3 years left on his contract, 2) we DO NOT WANT TO SELL, which means we dicate the rpice, 3)he may not be worth more than the turd under my shoe, but to sell him to Arsenal, LFC biggest rivals for 4th spot, you will have to cough up £60m or f*** off 4)LFC would rather sell him to Real for £25m than to Arseanl - it has nothign to do with money - if Arsenal get 4th, and LFC are outside, then LFC will lose £40m in CL money hence why you will have to pay through the nose for that privilege 5) persoanlly I hope he leaves the country in a plane that crashes into the ocean and he is the only victim - scum bag of a human being - I am surprised a class club like Arseanl are even contemplating signing such a disgucting piece of turd

Arsenal is a team without proud and dignity, after failing dramatically with your project of buying young talents, you want to change that shameful flan, trying to buy Luis Suarez it a sign of desperation, you are looking for saviour, you lost your pride and you are ready to buy our player that you all treated as cheat, disgrace, racist and a diver, I will not insult gooners, but where is your dignity? You forgot the bite? Ho! you don't care as long a racist can save from your 8 years of misery? The team of RVP, Fabregas, Nasri, Adebayor, Clinchy, Song, Eboue, Arshavin, this team failed included Walcott and you think Suarez alone can save you? Sorry Arsenal...

50m isn't even going to be enough, I think Liverpool won't budge, I don't believe he is worth it, but if we really want him, we will have to somehow get close to what they want.

55 mil minimum?? You crazy bro? Cavani has been hitting 30+ goals for the past 3 seasons at Napoli and it was PSG that bid for him so you can't really compare the 2 players. If it wasn't PSG, I expect Cavani's transfer fee to be lower. Suarez had his breakthrough season last year. Given his disciplinary records, I don't think he's worth more 35 mil to be honest. But hey Liverpool dont wanna sell so of course we're gonna have to pay a lot. Now that Liverpool see that we're serious they'll only increase the price. This transfer is now depends mostly (if not entirely) on Suarez. If he submits the transfer request, Liverpool will be forced to sell.

Arsene wenger is doing my heading either offer 55 mil or go find another club to bother, got to be the tightest manager ever known swear it's coming out of is own pocket like. I can't see arsenal getting any of the 3 strikers they wanted well 2 now cause 1 is in italy

Umm...yes we do. The "team" you mentioned hardly played together consistently due to injuries and the players weren't in their top forms yet. We have the new talented group of players now but we need one or two special player to get back to the top.

Of course Wenger won't go above 45 million we would have to buy him then. Just like the low bids on Rooney, Higuan , Bender , Lewindoski , they all look good but bellow their values , Just a matter of time before we her ther usual story of WE TRIED BUT THEIR CLUBS DIDN'T WANT TO SELL.

Same old nonsense coming out of POT city then, no new players, not even the slight smell of a trophy and season ticket prices on the up, good old money grabbing Kronke, he doesn't realise without the supporters all he has is an empty arena. tell the usurper it isn't his, gets my back

Do you guys not get it. He know Liverpool will say no to both 42.5 and 45 he is only doing this so he can say "well we tried" and then he can do what he always does which is make a profit which is now more important than anything to the board and to AW. Arsene knows that if he does spend 50m on a striker then all these years of complaning about silly spending in football will be brought back to haunt him as the media will either praise him for waking up or slate him for his earlier comments. Its all spin Gazidis came out and said we had loads of money which if your serious about spending then that is possibly the most stupid thing you can do. Unless you actually just want to appear to have money and pretned your going to spend in order to sell season ticket and then as you have told evryone you have loads of money the people you try to buy from just happen to price you out. "Oh well we tried but we were priced out." When will gooners wake up unless he spends this summer then it is time to go along with the board. We must make it clear that he does what he needs to or its time to go we are allowing this to happen. We can stop it.

This transfers gone on for two long Liverpool won't budge and if they do expect Real Madrid to pounce ! We lost transfer target higuian and look like we lose Bernard too disappointing to say the least wenger says we can challenge for the title I m not convinced seein as we only got 15 good players how can u maintain a challenge for league and play 3 other cup competitions and progress with one out and out striker 3 centre backs and 2 inconsistent polish keepers

Liverpool need a strong defensive midfield player who can bring stability at the back..pushing Wisdom in that role this season appears a promising step..but need to further reinforce to compete at highest level..

The worrying thing about the Suarez deal is that the other areas needing reinforcements are being neglected.
If Arsen was to bring in a big named player for the middle of the park this would surely send the right signals to Suarez and he might then push for the deal publicly which in turn would force Liverpools hand to sell!
