After the first £10million bid for French international midfielder Yohan Cabaye was rejected, Arsene Wenger is reportedly preparing an improved offer of around £15 million.

Cabaye has impressed in his spell at Newcastle United, with the North East winning 44.1% of their Premier League games with Cabaye starting, compared to just 23.6% without him.

However reports that the Magpies will not sell for anything under £30million could quash any deal happening all together.

The 27-year-old was subject to the £10million bid earlier on in the week, meaning he was left out of Newcastle’s squad which lost 4-0 to Manchester City on Monday night. Cabaye was said to “not be in the frame of mind” as City ran riot against the 10 man Toon.

The £10million bid was said to be outright rejected, with Wenger’s tactic of starting low seems to be being deployed again. Instead of paying the asking price, Wenger will no doubt raise the bid by £2million each time it is rejected before the window shuts…

Improved, but not by much

… Which is what contrasting reports are detailing. Some are claiming that Wenger will cave in under the fan power which marred the game at the Emirates on Saturday, and go ahead with a £15million bid. However others are claiming that Wenger’s fames frugality will shine through yet again with a small increase to £12million which Newcastle are unlikely to accept.

The French creative midfielder is a similar player to Mikel Arteta, with strong defensive qualities as well as flair going forward. At 27 years old he isn’t exactly fresh young talent, but with options running down faster than Theo Walcott, there isn’t much choice left.

August 31st, here we come

Deadline day could be a busy one as bids for Michu, Cabaye, Pogba and Lamela could win the fans back over after the tension at the Emirates on Saturday.

Cabaye would be a good buy, however it does spell panic slightly.

However panic buying is probably what we need right now.

What is wrong with Mr Wenger and his panic buys...we are tired of seeing this Old Man doing all this as if Arsenal belongs to him..He should put Arsenal Supporters at heart coz Arsenal is Bigger than Wenger. This is the time for other teams to respect Arsenal like what is done to Barcelona in Spain...nooo this time he missed the train coz all we need is nothing but best footbal and scoring more goals...PLIZ MR WENGER WAKE UP AND BUY QUALITY, NOT QUANTITY PLAYERS....

As a NUFC we won't sell for less than 20m, that's not to say he's worth anywhere near that. In fact on last seasons form for club and country he's not even worth 10m. His consistency is poor, his corner taking woeful. Now why do we want 20m, because we do. If a club came in for Wilshire would you be good sports and sell him for market value or would you try and take every penny you can as your under no onbligation to sell. If Cabaye was in his last year of his contract then yes you'd get him much cheaper.
I'd be delighted with the 20m (only downside our cheap owner and pathetic DOF won't spend a penny of it).
I'd say look elsewhere, you'll find better value in another league.

Cabs our best player by a long shot.
If he went in2 your team he would struggling to
Get game. Just shows how ***e we are
If we sold him to you 4 15million our fat ***ing owner would not even spend a penny on improving the team.

I liked your comment because i agree with you on that tim. That's Arsenal's problem,
too many players are being way over valued and we have not done ourselves any favours by saying we have money.

Arsenal are fighting a losing battle and it looks like we have lost.

having said that, with our owner anything's possible. He may accept 11 mil, just to make us look stupid. He's that sort of ***
+1 #18 tim 2013-08-20 12:04
I'm not suggesting he's worth more than 15, all I'm pointing out is he's under contract till 2016 and if you want him you'll have to pay what the owner wants, regardless of whether or not you think he's worth that. Is Gareth Bale worth 105 mil, or is it just because Spurs won't sell him unless its for an inflated sum? Our owner has been gearing up for this sale for 12 months now, I believe big player sales like this are how he takes back the money he lent us. I doubt very much you'll get him for a fair price

Another diminuitive midfielder. Wenger will never change, Wenger out! This summer has been a ***ing shambles, I'm sick of this ***. If I was Jack I'd be begging my agent to get me out of Arsenal.

Tim how can you tell me this guy,is worth a penny more than 15m?
#14 tim 2013-08-20 11:47
If someone came in for Cazorla would you sell him at his true market value out of the goodness of your hearts? Thought not. You'd fleece the *** out of anyone interested.

Toon army we don't really want him to be honest. He would just be there to fill the numbers up in midfield.I think flamoney for free is more up Arsenal's street lol
#12 toonarmy 2013-08-20 11:41
we dodt have to sell arsenal know the price only call Newcastle when your ready 2 pay all the 30 million in cash until then shhhh ;)
#11 angel gooner 2013-08-20 11:38
That's all well and good, but did Arsenal really unsettle the player or was it psg.

The players unhappy and want's out and the price being given,is way out of touch.Who do you think we are liverpool lol

It's a seller's market. If Arsenal want him, they'll have to pay what Jabba wants - or he aint going anywhere.
Remember - we don't want to sell and we don't have to sell.
Cheers

You can stick your 20m where the sun don't shine. He ain't no way worth that.

Just move on Arsenal and put your money elsewhere.
+1 #7 Leazesguy 2013-08-20 11:25
We'll swap you Cabaye for your manager.
At least Wenger knows how to build an attractive team without any funds being spent.
+1 #6 Bob the Geordie 2013-08-20 11:19
What do you want Cabaye for? He is a good player, not a brilliant player. He does go missing during a game and his temper can also get the better of him. You already have midfielders far better than him. Your manager needs a reality check.
-1 #5 Mildew 2013-08-20 11:18
Cabaye had a release clause in his contact that Newcastle found out about. Only reason they got him so cheap. Arsenal will have to pay around 20 million or more if they want him. Newcastle are under no obligation to sell.

Especially after the timing of the classless bid before the match yesterday.
-3 #4 ToonGeoff 2013-08-20 11:17
Give us Wilshere plus £10m for Cabaye and we MAY consider a deal. Otherwise look elsewhere.
+1 #3 tim 2013-08-20 11:16
Cabaye is worth what we say he's worth. You're more than welcome to him but you'll pay what fat man says you'll pay. For what its worth Cabaye is a decent player when things are going well, no denying that, but he disappears on a regular basis. If I'm being honest I can't see him getting in the team ahead of arteta or wilshere, or even ramsay for that matter. If you think he's the player that'll take you to the next level then you'll more than likely be disappointed.
-2 #2 angel gooner 2013-08-20 10:58
Toon army get real ffs.

How can a player who cost you 4m 2 years ago who hasn't really done that much value go up that much?

Footballs gone very mad.
#1 toonarmy 2013-08-20 10:55
£15 million that wouldt buy his left leg more like 30 million n then arsenal mite have a chance!!!!
