After the first £10million bid for French international midfielder Yohan Cabaye was rejected, Arsene Wenger is reportedly preparing an improved offer of around £15 million.
Cabaye has impressed in his spell at Newcastle United, with the North East winning 44.1% of their Premier League games with Cabaye starting, compared to just 23.6% without him.
However reports that the Magpies will not sell for anything under £30million could quash any deal happening all together.
The 27-year-old was subject to the £10million bid earlier on in the week, meaning he was left out of Newcastle’s squad which lost 4-0 to Manchester City on Monday night. Cabaye was said to “not be in the frame of mind” as City ran riot against the 10 man Toon.
The £10million bid was said to be outright rejected, with Wenger’s tactic of starting low seems to be being deployed again. Instead of paying the asking price, Wenger will no doubt raise the bid by £2million each time it is rejected before the window shuts…
Improved, but not by much
… Which is what contrasting reports are detailing. Some are claiming that Wenger will cave in under the fan power which marred the game at the Emirates on Saturday, and go ahead with a £15million bid. However others are claiming that Wenger’s fames frugality will shine through yet again with a small increase to £12million which Newcastle are unlikely to accept.
The French creative midfielder is a similar player to Mikel Arteta, with strong defensive qualities as well as flair going forward. At 27 years old he isn’t exactly fresh young talent, but with options running down faster than Theo Walcott, there isn’t much choice left.
August 31st, here we come
Deadline day could be a busy one as bids for Michu, Cabaye, Pogba and Lamela could win the fans back over after the tension at the Emirates on Saturday.
Cabaye would be a good buy, however it does spell panic slightly.
However panic buying is probably what we need right now.

I'd be delighted with the 20m (only downside our cheap owner and pathetic DOF won't spend a penny of it).
I'd say look elsewhere, you'll find better value in another league.
If he went in2 your team he would struggling to
Get game. Just shows how ***e we are
If we sold him to you 4 15million our fat ***ing owner would not even spend a penny on improving the team.

too many players are being way over valued and we have not done ourselves any favours by saying we have money.
Arsenal are fighting a losing battle and it looks like we have lost.
The players unhappy and want's out and the price being given,is way out of touch.Who do you think we are liverpool lol
It's a seller's market. If Arsenal want him, they'll have to pay what Jabba wants - or he aint going anywhere.
Remember - we don't want to sell and we don't have to sell.
Cheers
Just move on Arsenal and put your money elsewhere.
At least Wenger knows how to build an attractive team without any funds being spent.
Especially after the timing of the classless bid before the match yesterday.
How can a player who cost you 4m 2 years ago who hasn't really done that much value go up that much?
Footballs gone very mad.
