Following Daniel Hobson’s article on Cesc Fabregas I wanted to debunk some myths about why many fans don’t want him back at the club. Fabregas is a brilliant player, and if the opportunity arises to buy him I trust Wenger to seize it instantly.

Fabregas myths debunked:

1. The issue tackled in Daniel’s article: no where to play him in our side

Fabregas does not only play in the attacking midfield role behind the striker contrary to popular belief online. In fact he can play anywhere along the central midfield area and only doesn’t start there for Spain or Barcelona because he cannot break through players such as Xavi, Alonso, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets.

He could come into this Arsenal side and start anywhere, quite possibly next to Ramsey in a double pivot behind Ozil, replacing Arteta. It is important not to forget how good he is, he played alongside the 2004 Invincibles aged 16 and gradually displaced club captain Patrick Vieira.

2. He will block off development of younger players

There is an argument that signing Fabregas would block of the development of young midfielders like Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere. This is crazy. The reason Cesc got so good is because he was fighting for his place and training with players of exceptional quality like Pires, Vieira and Ljungberg. Signing more players of great ability would aid not hinder Ramsey, Wilshere and Oxlade-Chamberlain.

3. Arsenal cannot afford Fabregas

According to all reports there is a buy back clause in Fabregas’ contract for around £25 million. An absolute steal for a player of his quality. Arsenal’s new financial power also means they could afford him if he was to cost more.

4. Fabregas will go to a club other than Arsenal

Firstly, Arsenal have first refusal on Fabregas—another clause in the contract. Wenger wouldn’t have put this in unless he was interested in having Cesc back one day, if Barcelona want to sell I am confident we will activate this clause.

Also, Cesc wouldn’t want to go anywhere as much as Arsenal, he claims to still watch every game.

5. Barcelona want him to stay

A recent poll in Marca (Spanish Newspaper) concluded over 50% of fans wanted Cesc out, and he was booed off against Athletic Bilbao at the weekend. He is contensting for his position against some the best midfielders in the world including Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets, as well as Neymar, Pedro and Messi. I think Barcelona could manage without him!

6. Arsenal club and fans wouldn’t take him back on principle due to leaving

A lot of fans say they wouldn’t take him back as they see him as a traitor. This is ridiculous. Cesc left in a much better fashion than a lot of others and cannot be included in the Van Persie, Cole and Nasri bracket by leaving for expanded salaries to direct rivals in the Premier League. He left to play for his boyhood club, and claims to still love Arsenal and to have cried when he left. I would happily forgive him and you would all be mad not to too.

He’s not an Arsenal legend yet by any means, but Fabregas has unfinished business, could a return for Cesc be on the cards?

He's world class and he loves the club. That's why we should sign him. Simple.

we need Song and not Cesc.

And he does not get injured every season. A real talented footballer. Viva Fab.

I heard that Moyes has been recruited by UKIP. Nigel Farage has been quoted as saying " we can't think of anyone better qualified to get us out of Europe."

I would have him back in a heartbeat much better than any midfielder we have but he left The Arsenal and hardly played that year claiming injury but played straight away for Barca and yet Nasri gets stick and he played right up until he left and was the best man for us in his last match against Liverpool in a defeat. They knew the club was all about the business and keeping in the top 4,fans saying we cant compete because of the money of Chelsea and Man City but Liverpool has blown that myth out of the water, what is needed is a coach with a tactical brain and we will challenge until the end of most competitions.

1. He won't fit in. We already have Ozil playing behind striker. He won't play in wings. Ramsey's place is fixed and in Arteta's place we need a solid tackling mid-fielder who sits back and defends. Only here he Fab has a chance.
2. Yes, he will block of development of youth players. Jack needs more game time. And Fab won't play 2nd fiddle at Arsenal.
3. Arsenal can afford Cesc. But we cannot afford a quality striker & RB along with him.
4. Fab will only leave Barca for Arsenal.
5. Barca fans may hate him but the club sure needs him. He will soon replace Xavi in a year. Also they have the transfer ban. Also Barca is his home!
6. Arsenal fans will love him if comes back.

with fabregas ,a striker like Falcao and less injuries/season we could see the part2 of "the invincibles"
+7 #21 trugun 2014-04-22 11:38
If anyone wanted a reason to have Cesc back consider this, Wilshere has never played as well since Cesc left, Cesc will improve the squad immensly, to have him back is a no brainer. cesc4Arsenal.

I would not want him back. I still cannot forgive him for the goal he gifted to Barcelona with a back heel. He even admitted afterwards that he was responsible for Arsenal losing that game.

Quoting Finsbury Parker:
Well okay, I'm one of the fans who still sees him in a traitor. Not as bad as Na$ri, Hleb, Song and Van Traitor, but there you go. He was an unwanted part of the Barcehole's youth setup. We gave him a chance, and developed him into the player he became. Then the arrogant Barceholes started making noises about "recovering lost property". No, sorry. He had three years left on his contract, but forced a move for way below his market value because there was only one acceptable destination. And we'll never get to the bottom of the threatened strike, unless Arsene writes his memoirs. I don't give a damn if he follows our results. Nope, I'm sick of players who started out as nobodies, used us a shop window, and then snuck away with some feeble excuse about ambition. Instead of showing some balls, staying put, and trying to win things for the Manager and club who showed faith in him when he was unknown. Like the other traitors who are getting karmically bitchslapped now, like van Traitor.

Screw all of them. We've got players of better character now.
He wouldn't fit in our magic midfield anyway.

i guess u would like to keep kallstrom rather than get cesc back
+2 #18 pop 2014-04-22 03:56
Would like Cesc and Song to come back to us. Big NO to RVP though.
+5 #17 Ruf 2014-04-21 23:43
In the big games a lot of our big players are yet to show up. yet when I think of cesc, it was in such games that he came into his own as we memorably desppatched the likes of real madrid, AC milan, juventus among others. cesc would have an even bigger impact just by joining than Ozil or flamini. some will say he is still a traitor. consideraing the times we leave in i think its expecting too much to have had cesc ignore loud overtures particularly with the club continously selling its best and failing to land silverware. if flamini has been accepted back, why not cesc who after all left catalonia at only 16 and would have been only too eager to experience the feel of playing in the nou camp for his boyhood club.

Cesc back? If there wasn't Ozil...Wenger is crazy about technically gifted players that he forgets the Premiership has a lot to do with physicality! Even Flamini, because of his size, is no longer the modern DM required. All teams go for strong macho DMs...Wenger should copy for once to help the plethora of other gifted midfielders in our squad ... but here we are talking about fabregas. We get fabregas, they are all kicked all over the pitch and half-way gone - injuries...our lot since Vieira departed!

Barcelone, in forcing Fabregas home had one thing in mind - to destroy the only other team in Europe playing like Barca...let them enjoy their boy! If Wenger spends 25m of the funds for a macho DM and a real striker for another creative MD, then he loves going trophyless all season!
+2 #15 jordangooner 2014-04-21 23:29
Whilst I love both Heny and bergkamp, I still believe Fabregas is the finest player every I have seen play for us. Fabregas is magnificent, I would sign him immediately.
+3 #14 Macgooner56 2014-04-21 23:01
Cesc gave the club 8 yrs,of course we should bring him back if we can.he went to play for his boyhood club, but if he wants to return to his spiritual home then great.all for it!!!

if we buy a new striker, and a DM to partner ramsey, and sort out sagna's contract/buy new RB, and keep vermaelen/buy new CB, and still have £25m left then i wouldn't mind bringing cesc back.

but i don't think playing cesc next to ramsey would be a good idea, he's a fighter and can win the ball but we'd be wasting his talents...
-1 #12 M Thomas 2014-04-21 21:48
I 'd have him back, but only cos he's a good player and would only be 25m. Not because he's some kind of arsenal legend which is bull***. He crapped on us in his last season and wanted out at any cost so i don't get fans who romanticise Fabregas. Would sign him for cheap and he'd play well with Ramsey and Ozil.
+7 #11 Jak 2014-04-21 21:24
EVERYONE wants Cesc back!
Those who don't are so stupid they are not worth listening to!

Quoting Rodger:
Arsenal desperately need a top striker than a midfielder though Fab is welcome any time back home.

If the budget is correct in £100 million, £25 million for Fabregas is brilliant business leaving £75 million for other positions if available we have to get him back.

Have Cesc back in a heart beat, he is class and a true gooner !
+4 #6 debut 2014-04-21 19:49
He is welcome back anytime & anyday. He is part of us but there is a clause, he is not French. You know what that means. We need a world-class striker, a lethal & a clinical striker first to be a able to compete next season. My opinion
+9 #5 jay 2014-04-21 19:33
Agree with everything that is said. would absolutely love to see Cesc back at the Arsenal. Im just curious as to why barca would want to sell assuming their transfer embargo stands?
-3 #4 John 2014-04-21 19:33
Pedro & Neymar are wingers. Xavi is reportedly leaving in a year or two. Busquets is a slow DM. Cesc has gotten booed before, last year in fact. He also ended up playing more minutes than any other FCB player mentioned. Leave it be. He doesn't want back and FCB are not going to sell with a possible ban on the horizon. We also need an ST, LW, DM, RB, CB, GK, etc. before another AM.
+8 #3 Sabrerat 2014-04-21 19:33
Would welcome him back with open arms- he is that good! BTW, his Mrs and daughter are settled in London.
+10 #2 Aj 2014-04-21 19:25
Everywhere I have looked, Arsenal supporters are 100% in favour of bringing Cesc back. Where has this guy found "many fans" who don't want him back?
+8 #1 Rodger 2014-04-21 19:25
