Arsenal and Sami Khedira are in discussions about the German moving to the Emirates in a move that would send a major signal of intent from the Gunners.

However, the latest reports from Spain suggest Arsenal are unwilling to match the Real Madrid midfielders wage demands.

Radio station Cadena Ser believe the wage demands of the German international are coming close to scuppering a move to the Premier League with the north London club.

Wenger not willing to budge

Various English newspapers suggested that Khedira was asking for £150,000-a-week and the usually reliable Cadena Ser back up those claims.

They go on to add that if Khedira’s demands were to be met that he would become the highest earner at the club and Arsene Wenger is unwilling to let that happen.

Instead, he would rather the German go on 130,000-a-week alongside Mesut Ozil and new signing Alexis Sanchez.

More talks coming

More discussion are expected over the next couple of days but this is worrying news for Gunners fans who were hoping this transfer would progress smoothly.

Interestingly, Cadena Ser fail to mention Chelsea at all. The west London club have also been linked with Khedira but that has been through the British press.

Cadena Sar’s failure to even acknowledge Chelsea suggest they aren’t looking to beat Arsenal to the signing of Khedira like has been mentioned regularly over the past few days.

That, for Arsenal fans, is at least one positive and the hope will be that Arsenal and the representatives of Khedira can come to an arrangement.

IMO, that is an overpayment for a midfielder that is injury prone ... especially when you can get a younger, cheaper, tougher tackling DM in Bender
