It is rumoured that Greek defender Kostas Manolas has undergone a medical.

This was after Arsenal were quoted a fee of £8 million to secure his services. It now looks like Arsenal have won the race which featured Juventus.

The only sticking point on the deal may be playing time, which is because Manolas wants a guarantee that he will play regular football every week.

However, Wenger may not be able to do this as he will not break the partnership of Koscielny and Mertesacker. This would be a good deal as Manolas is a good defender and showed this at the world cup and was voted in the best 50 players. He would provide quality back up just like Vermaelen.

Another incoming transfer maybe PSG teenager Adrien Rabiot, after reports in France emerged Arsenal have been allowed to talk to the teenager.  At 19 years of age Rabiot has got plenty of potential and this is being shown in the price tag of £5.5 million.

If Arsenal win the race then they will have done well especially when you consider the likes of Chelsea, Roma and Juventus are in the race for him.

Other media outlets are reporting that Wenger himself has spoken to Rabiot in a personal plea for him to sign for the gunners.  His current deal expires in the summer of 2015. Rabiot plays central midfield and has recently just made his debut for the French U21’s.

This deal would be one the future and shows that Arsenal are trying to strengthen the amount of youngsters that are progressing to the first team.

These two deals would show good business once again by Arsenal which would already add to an impressive summer.

Good business but where would rabiot fit in we still have a certain mr diaby if fit or do we give up on him

Backup it's called that's why you can't spend on top signings every deal

I think this is not time for try by error, we should be thinking how to win EPL and CL by now and not signing player that can keep us on top four. We need players like william cavalho, marcos reus, vargas, manolas. With this we can be sure of winning something. Other clubs have been spending big and all win atleast a trophy e.g PSG,Man city,Chelsea,Madrid, Munich etc be wise Mr Wenger.

If you think signings won't help get epl or cl then you don't know football all your doing is repeating other ppls quotes and names at least think up some players you ain't seen already quoted on page. Then if you think these players coming in won't help arsenal win silverware then you don't understand backup in depth
Chelsea spent big last season what they win nothing

We do not need young untested players but top class players who will make the difference in order to win the title

We have tested player's in both them manalos played we biggest stage and Rabiot.ha is wanted by 3 top clubs so do you think that's not for a reason best to think before write also both loans so still loads cash for cavani/cavaliho and vargas with still Khedira chance

Wenger knows what hes doin so trust whatever decision he makes..personally if i were in the hotseat id grab manolas cb cover, casemiro dm cover,Douglas costa wing cover and go all out for cavani, manolas 8 mil, casemiro 15mil,d costa loan,50 mil for cavani...another 75 mil bring the title challenge back..with money in this season we've only spent 25 mil,so using another 75 will giv us the 100 mil we been prromised...@gunners 4life

Wenger is trying to buy young and untested players like Rabiot when he shd be fielding quality players. Some time ago he said when his young guns have blossomed, they would take the fw by storm. Denilson,Senderos,be nndthber, etc have unfulfilled the great expectation and Arsenal went without atrophy for 9 nine until the lucky win over Hull.
Take it from me if he can't get the gunners gouing,he will have to face the axe. What every team wants is a winning manager ,not agreat manager as Van Gaal will find to his cost.

A hugely talented Rabiot and Manolas will be a great deal but a class lower than CHELSEA,MANCITY,LIVE RPOOL, s new recruites, but and ok investment.Arsenal is obviusly investing for 2/3 years to come.

"Wenger has gone back to type and wants cheap or loan players" arsenal-steve
Don't know when you started supporting Arsenal but when we were at Highbury Wenger was never accused of buying cheap so contrary to your opinion the signings he's doing now are to type. If we buy Manolas as back up for 6 mil having sold back up for 15 mil I'd say that's good business, Rabiot is class for the future. Having spent 66 mil on 4 internationals so far I don't understand the criticism.

The time has come to show serious title contention and Mr. Wenger has to sign tried and tested players, Like Sami Khedira or William Caravahlo. Let's continue with quality signings in order to compete on all fronts. We have Ozil, Sanzhez, and a flaming Ramsey

Rabiot would be a good replacement to Arteta. Wenger likes to use creative midfielders as DM. I think it will happen, and that it is a very good deal
+2 #1 arsenal-steve 2014-08-17 19:51
Rabiot is not a sitting defensive mid fielder. The man we need is 22 year old William Carvalho. He is young but much better as a DM. He will cost 25 million pounds. That is why Wenger will not sign him. Wenger has gone back to type and wants cheap or loan players. Expect Vargas on loan. Manolas for £6 Million and Rabiot for £4 million. To me the only one worth signing is Vargas who is immensely underated. Fabian Schar at CB and William Carvalho at DM are who we need. But they cost money and are not cheap like Manolas and Rabiot.
