Arsenal could be involved in a sensational swap deal involving Olivier Giroud and Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani.

French website Sport.fr believe Arsene Wenger is still hoping to sign a world class forward and wonders if the Uruguayan could be the man to solve his striker problems.

Ángel Di María also involved

It has been reported that £25 million and Giroud would be enough for PSG to part ways with Cavani and that money could also be used to sign Ángel Di María to the Paris club.

With Cavani looking to leave PSG, this incredible transfer deal could be perfect for all parties involved. However, whether or not this could actually occur remains to be seen.

And also whether fans of the Paris club would like to see Cavani leave is unsure, especially with Giroud not being the most illustrious of replacements.

Strange rumour?

This rumour does seem a far-fetched one but with speculation previously suggesting that Arsenal bid for Uruguayan recently there could be an element of truth in the deal.

Something that seems certain is that this deal could be a pivotal one for the Gunners. Giroud has been an excellent player and signing for Wenger since moving two years ago but isn’t in the world class bracket.

Arsenal require a forward capable of taking them to the next level and Giroud unfortunately isn’t that.

Perfect deal…

It leaves the club in a tricky situation needing a new centre forward capable of taking them to the elite level and able to compete in the Premier League and Champions League.

However, the club probably couldn’t fund a move for a world class striker with just cash. Therefore this deal could be perfect.

Whilst this rumour seems crazy it could be a deal that would push Arsenal up alongside the biggest clubs in the world, would fans be happy with this transfer?

Thank you Finch. Someone who realizes life isn't FIFA and actually watches all AFC games. Anyone who watched all of our fixtures knows the effort and contribution Giroud gave last year. Top 5 PL in goals, and guess what Hursty and others. ST's also have other attributes to their games. Hold up play, winning balls in the air, using your physical abilities to hold up the ball for the wingers w/ pace, making runs into the box. Guess what? giroud did these things.

Hursty, you are a ***. Constantly being rewarded w/ starts? no ***.. Carrying the team on his back. Man your a fool and a disgrace to our fan base. Quit hating and support. SUPPORTERS.... Don't call yourself one when you hate on someone who plays for the crest. The man played almost every damn PL CL And Domestic cup games due to our lack of

A hitman that can not get pass one or two defenders before hitting target? I wonder if people actually watch Giroud play. The difference was so obvious with Ba on Tuesday. This guy is so lucky in life....to be that bad and still make a first team player in the EPL. Like they say,it can only be possible in Wengers team.

Most rumours suggest its £35 mil plus giroud for cavani which would put girouds value at around £15 mil which is more believable. Really want to believe it will happen so fingers and toes crossed

Quoting don:
Giroud is now cup tied in europe so PSG will not want him. Those reports are poorly thought out. It would be awesome if he did but Cavani is not coming to Arsenal. We should accept that

Giroud will be the backup for Ibra, who will play all the CL games. Being cup tied is inconvenient, but not a real problem.

Ungrateful fools like Hursty are an embarrassment to Arsenal. Remember the world class RVP kissed the badge and ran to Manchester. Girouds goals helped us get 4th in the same season.

Why do people refer to Arsenal's finances as being small? We had at least £100m to begin with and with the outgoings and incomings in the transfer window we have spent £21m net! Wenger has the funds he just needs to lengthen his arms to reach the bottom of his pockets!

I would rather Giroud stays but if the swap happens it is certainly a step forward

Unlikely, Giroud is Wenger's love child, constantly being rewarded with starts without having earnt them. This also suggests that Giroud is worth £25 million, which he isnt.
