News circulating today around media outlets is that Santi Cazorla is wanted by Barcelona captain Xavi.

Speculation comes after Cazorla played a pivotal role in Arsenal’s victory against Manchester City. Cazorla showed his all-round ability with a goal and assist as well as a disciplined performance. The midfielder worked tirelessly and often put in important tackles so there is no surprise Barcelona are being linked with him.

Well, being linked due to comments made by Xavi. When asked who he would prefer out of Cazorla and Silva, Xavi answered Cazorla. Xavi was speaking at a PR event for Dentix.

"There is some great Spanish football talent around," said Xavi.

"Who would I sign for Barcelona? [David] Silva and Cazorla."

However, in my opinion there is not much in the story as it was just a comment made when being asked a question although, you may remember Xavi’s involvement in the Cesc Fabregas saga.

To further dampen the fire, Barcelona cannot sign any players for the whole of 2015 meaning no move would be possible.

Overall, Cazorla is an Arsenal player until 2016 when his contract expires. At this moment Cazorla is Arsenal’s best player and looks like he is enjoying his football and with the prospect of Ӧzil coming back; it will make his position competitive which may drive him on further and bring the bets out of him over an extended period.
