Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has insisted that Arsene Wenger will win another Premier League title before he retires, similar to Sir Alex Ferguson, according to the Daily Express.

Parlour was a key player for Arsenal in their golden period around 90s and the turn of the century. He believes that Wenger has put together a squad that could challenge for the title one day:

“I think Wenger can do it,” Parlour said.

“His squad is in great shape having bolstered it with Gabriel. And I believe it is his destiny to do exactly what Sir Alex Ferguson did. To win that trophy one more time and then call it a day.

“Wenger would love to go out at the very highest level and lots of Arsenal fans would be delighted. Certainly that will be what he is looking at.”

Arsenal will be looking to bounce back fast however, following their 2-0 defeat to Tottenham today at White Hart Lane, falling further behind the leaders Chelsea.

The Gunners boss has stated that the team were simply not good enough at White Hart Lane, which saw the Gunners lose for the first time in six games against Spurs.

Arsenal also picked up five bookings in the game some of which were debatable i.e. Monreal and Welbeck’s bookings, something that Wenger seemed disgruntled with.

After the game, Wenger spoke to the media, highlighting his frustration with the referee and the players:

“I think we were not very good and the referee was at our level,” he said.

“I don’t think he had a good day as well.

“We defended quite well but offensively we were not good enough.

“Look for me they created more chances and overall we cannot dispute the game too much.

“The regret we have is we gave the goals away and of course lose the derby is difficult.”

Arsenal were overturned by a brace from Harry Kane, following Mesut Ozil’s goal in the first half to put the Gunners into the lead at the break. This defeat unfortunately allows Tottenham to leap above Arsenal in the League.

Why can Wenger learn from past mistakes and past victories. He should remember the time he had Patrick . V, Gilberto S and Edu. Any mach in which he involved the three, never did he ever loss. Simple mathematics was they were all skilled and capable defending midfielders. In no doubt did they play their defending / holding roles. There presence made the likes of Kolo - T, Solo C, A. Cole, R. Mayer to overlap and cross ball or even score.

Guys lets not blame the refer, but do Wenger and the entire team especially the shaky defense. I thick it is the coach's responsibility to note who is not doing to his best in the on-going game and so make substitutions. Saying the defense defended well, but they were not Offensive enough is a political expression. Never in mathematics can you have equal negative [-] and positive [+] and count it a value. He should accept that he has run short of training skills for defenders. This is coupled with using attacking midfielders in position - number 6. My advice is Wenger should consider bringing on board already made defensive midfielders. In this case he will use the two of them against teams which play physical games. Or else it will take him more than 5 years to wine a cup again. If not careful he may take up Man- U's last season position, but be rest assured that he can not finish beyond position 4.

Arsenal were frankly 2nd rate and deserve to lose. The attack was making no headway and were closed down quickly.A soccer writer said Arsenal will be ruffled by a pressing game and it turned out to be real. Until Wenger varies his tactics game to game ,the gunners will continue to lose the big games.
I know Wenger has secured cl status for x/y consecutive seasons. There is always a first time he might fail to do
so. This could be the season.
Btw VG has said he always manages to win a trophy in his first season. As said there is always the probability he
could fail. And why not this season.

Well, I think Wenger was justified in critising the ref, some of the booking were rediculas, but then again in modern football you only have to touch someone and they fall down and someone gets booked. ( I include Arsenal players also) it seems to me that the art of tackling has gone out of the game.
Whilst on the subject of referees what happened to the rule for booking player waving imaginary cards, and the goal keep have to disperse of the ball within six seconds.
Returning to the match Arsenal were out muscelled in midfield, lacked imagination going forward. In my view Mr Wenger picked the wrong team, Ozil is not ideal for these type of matches, and Wellback needs time to get match fit, he was way of the pace. Sorry to admit we were second class and will struggle to get above Spurs this season

Quoting Malaysian gunner:
Frustrated by the ref? He shd look himself in the mirror.Frankly I aint surprised he lost because teams know how he likes to play. It is a predictable style which makes it easy for the defenders of the opposing teams.
Btw,Sports mole has reported Bould is frustrated by his coaching role.It seems his suggestions on defence ,etc are ignored by the fm.
Whether its true ,we wont know but I aint going to be surprised by it.Next stop Leicester fighting against relegation.
They can be expected to play anti soccer or hit and score . Lose and mayhem ak out E ES.

Are you joking? Arsenal is playing an unrecognisable boring defensive system. Worked against ManCity but flopped against Totenham. You have borrowed a bandwagon line but are clueless about Arsenal styles.
