Thierry Henry recently admitted his fondness for his countryman Olivier Giroud to save his cult image from getting torpedoed further, but recent reports suggest that Arsene Wenger may have listened to his former striker as Arsenal are believed to offload the former Montpellier marksman in favour of Karim Benzema.

Olivier Giroud has enjoyed a roller-coaster season scoring seven goals in six Premier League games before going on a goalless run of eight games. Such inconsistency has, thus, resulted in huge number of Arsenal supporters calling out for a striker signing in the upcoming transfer window.

Arsenal have been linked with a wide array of strikers including Alexandre Lacazette, Paulo Dybala and Jackson Martinez, but it is now being murmured that Arsenal may be ready to offload Olivier Giroud to raise Karim Benzema monies.

Arsene Wenger is known to be a long-term admirer of the £35million Real Madrid striker, who is now believed to face the axe at the Spanish capital this summer. He is also rumoured to be in the radar of Liverpool and Manchester United, but Arsenal are touted to be the frontrunners as of now.

The 27-year-old striker is believed to be keen on a Premier League move and could be enticed by the prospect of playing alongside his former teammate Mesut Ozil. The Gunners have also sealed their spot in the group stages of Champions League and that could play a vital role in the decision of the former Lyon striker regarding his next employers.

You are right Kitt. Giroud may provide, as a target man other opportunities upfront. However since Arsenal usually plays very quick on the ground one touch football Giroud will be precious only on set pieces(free kicks and corners). He could also be precious if he has a small quick forward running around him and benefiting from his deviations to snatch the goals (remember the John Toshack - Kevin Keegan association). He is not somebody who will day in day out make the difference as a lone centre forward. But you are right. We could keep him as a second option in case Arsenal decides to opt for long balls being thrown in the box.

We need more than one striker, we need to be able to vary our game not only 1 touch football but to go long if we need to that is why I think giroud should stay as he is good target man and buy a striker that will score plenty of goals in other games.

Walcott and Wilshere have been excellent lately. We should not get rid of them. Flamini, Diaby, Arteta are past their best and will not add real value. Giroud is a good targetman but he has to be replaced by a quicker and more deadly striker because we are playing very good one touch football but unfortunately not scoring regularly enough.

We need a sharp dangerous striker not the likes of giroud. Wingerworth should not and must not make a mistake of selling walcott and wilshere no matter what. Let him sell the likes of giroud, diaby, arteta and flamini.

I think those who were calling Henry a bandit due to his earlier comment about Oliver G, are now seeing his predictive ability. It is not only Oliver who should be off loaded. Many of them including- Flamine, Abu D, Arteta should all be. This should facilitate Henry's proposal of 4 players. What I think would put Arsenal in a better place would include: 1 CD, 2DM and 1 Attacker. They should all be matur, experienced players.

Jackson Martinez and Karim Benzema could form a perfect partnership upfront.
