Arsenal lost the pursuit in which they were never in as Karim Benzema rubbished reports linking him with them but are now rumoured to be poised to secure a deal for the only world-class striker available in the transfer market in Edinson Cavani.
Contrary to their glorious pre-season performances, the Gunners have had an unforeseen start to their Premier League campaign, having failed to find the back of the net at home to Liverpool and Hammers, let alone registering a win.
Many a supporter and pundit believe that the arrival of a proven goal-scorer only could change their fortunes as only Olivier Giroud has found his name on the scoresheet so far for the London club this season.
Tim Vickery recently claimed that Arsene Wenger had turned his attention to the Paris-Saint Germain talisman, with the striker expected to push through a deal as Laurent Blanc may opt to prioritize Angel di Maria over the Uruguay international on the left flank.
The 28-year-old played a pivotal role in his club clinching the French title last season as he scored 31 goals and could go on to become the ideal Robin van Persie replacement in the event of Arsenal shelling out £35.5million for his services.

All the time we read in the press is wenger wants!!!! and alot of stories, wenger this !!! wnger that !!!
As long as wenger is the manager at the emirates expect nothing.Pls retire in peace master of failure !!!
Kudos Garry Nevile Keep on attacking wenger.
Let's make it clear that Wenger and no one from the Arsenal camp has talked about "trying" to win the league or the CL. Those tags were made by pundits and so called football specialists (which UK has none).
Fans have to understand that Arsenal is not a major force in Europe and might not ever be.
Top four (announced by Wenger toward the end of the season ) and may be another "small" insignificant cup.
This is a club with no ambition and clear plan (exes getting the books right).
Tired of this ***e!
