Amidst reports claiming that Arsene Wenger has been working day and night in search of potential transfer targets despite not being close to signing anyone, the English media now believes that Arsenal are lining up a move for Raphael Guerreiro.

Nacho Monreal, alongside Francis Coquelin, has been a revelation last season and still is one of the first few names on the Arsenal team sheet. Reports from Spain, however; state that the former Malaga fullback may fancy a move back to his homeland as Athletic Bilbao are murmured to be interested in him.

In the highly unlikely event of the 29-year-old left-back heading for the Emirates Stadium exit door, the French manager will have only Kieran Gibbs at his disposal, making the signing of a left-back obligatory.

At a very tender age of Raphael Guerreiro has sizable experience, having managed two caps for his nation, not to mention the 74 appearances for Lorient and can even be touted to become a top notch defender for Arsenal, provided his progress maintains the pace and intensity.

Arsenal have had success in the past turning a Lorient nobody into a world-class footballer in the case of Laurent Koscielny and history may repeat itself given the attributes of the £5.4million rated starlet, especially his goal-scoring instincts.
