Arsenal player ratings

Tottenham held Arsenal to a 1-1 draw as the Gunners missed a number of opportunities to score and leapfrog Manchester City to third.

Arsenal dominated huge spells in the first half but Tottenham hit on the break early in the second half through Nacer Chadli.

Arsenal had to dig deep for an equalizer and they got it though Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Player Ratings

Szczesny - 7 - Remained relatively untroubled throughout the game. Did well when called upon. Couldn’t be faulted for the goal. Decent performance.

Chambers - 7 - Remained solid and composed throughout the match. Completed his defensive duties well but going forward, he could have done better. Had a couple of decent  efforts on goal which provided some entertainment.

Mertesacker - 6 - Not a great game by Per. Was finding it a little difficult to cope up with the pace of Tottenham’s attack. Thankfully they did not have their shooting boots on today. Almost headed past Szczesny’s goal.

Koscielny - 7 - Good game by Laurent. Kept Adebayor quiet throughout the game and always looked calm and composed.

Gibbs - 7 - Was the best player in Arsenal’s defence. Performed his defensive duties capably and looked a massive threat in attack pumping balls into the box.

Ozil - 6 - Before the game, it was believed that he would again start on the dreaded left flank but was given the nod in the middle. Given a free role in midfield, he wasn’t able to bring his form from the Aston Villa game. Looked more of a threat in the second half but is capable of much more.

Arteta - 6 - Looked calm and assured until he had to be taken off for injury. Arsenal had the bulk of possession while he was on and when he was subbed off, Tottenham got more involved in the game. Will be out for Chelsea next week.

Ramsey - 6 - You could see that he was trying to recapture his form of last season by attempting a number of backheel passes that failed. Needs to get back to basics and keep it simple. Taken off in the first half for an injury. Will be out for Chelsea next week.

Wilshere - 7 - Had a fairly good game for Arsenal today. Was played on the left but excited the fans in that role. His sharp turns and bursts of pace is what kept Arsenal ticking.

Welbeck - 7 - A player with bags of pace, he fought diligently with Tottenham’s defense and almost found a goal in the first half running from the halfway line. Faded a bit in the second half but a good performance.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - 7 - Always a threat on the right flank with his powerful pace. Was always a worry for the Tottenham defense and slammed in a deserved equalizer.

Substitutes

Alexis Sanchez - 6 - Came on with 30 minutes on the clock. Ran at their defense tirelessly but couldn’t find the winning goal.

Flamini - 5 - Came on for Arteta. At fault for the goal conceded and couldn’t control the pace of the game as Arteta had done.

Cazorla - 6 - Came on in the first half for an injury to Aaron Ramsey. Provided a higher attacking threat than the man he replaced. Got the assist for the goal.

At the end of the day, it’s 2 points dropped for Arsenal. The Gunners would have been looking to continue on from their exploits at Villa Park but it wasn’t to be.

Although Arsenal are still undefeated in the league, they will rue the missed opportunities that would have seen them move to third, ahead of Manchester City.

Next fixture in the league - A trip to Stamford Bridge.

I think the player ratings and comments were fair enough . Worried by Per's lack of mobility and Flamini's rashness and slip ups . Laurent Koscielny looks the most reliable with Chambers giving his all and unlucky not to score . Jack worked hard , did well and fought for the team but he often runs into traffic and sadly ends up on the ground /injured . Ox did well and looked strong but Arteta and other midfielders need to dominate more .

Wenger have to take the blame. This will be an empty season for arsenal because Wenger refused to buy good no4 that is strong nd fast allbbecause he want to give France players in the team playing time. For God sake flamini is not strong nd can't even run, Giouru is not fast nd because Wenger dont want him to be benched he went nd brought welbeck a player that is rejected by man u so tell me did Wenger still hungry for glory? The answer is No. Every season same old story nd stupid excuses.

Sorry what? Scez Couldnt be faulted for the goal? Let me remind you...

He collected the ball.
Looked up.
Had Sanchez and Welbeck on halfway line against 3 Spurs players.
Pulled back.
Look at full backs and passed it to chambers.
Chambers pressured by KABOUL! YES KABOUL! A freaking CB on the other side!
Passed to BFG.
Passed to Flamini.

Yes you can say flamini was at fault but scez distribution was also at fault for that.

One thing, ramsey need to stick back to basics again. Hes form is dipping and hes doing ridiculous amount of skills. If every one of them works, im ok but due to that he kept losing the ball.

Gibbs was seriously on fire! He has to learn how to score. We saw chambers doing two shots. Why dont gibbs do the same? Instead of just providing, why not try for a shot in goal.

Cazorla is just brilliant! I know i know i will get the sticks for saying bad things about our little cazorla but seriously guys, he got off the bench and gave a boost to our attack! He has to start more. I think its nature for him now to play on the left as he did almost the whole last season. Give him play time!

Welbeck, oh Lord Welbeck! You could have scored that that and that if you were more physical and has more flair! Oh well! Ever since Welbeck played, little bit of me does not miss Giroud and that "Fake shot" though xD

Being a little harsh on Arteta there. I think the ratings are spot on. Being realistic that is. We had a very good hold of the game until Arteta was subbed off.

Yeah, flamini & arteta are both finished as top players and once again arsene has gone down the "make do " road.so probably another bad loss at chavski next week because regardless of any signings we,v made we are too small, too easy to knock about, and in Arsenes case to arrogant to address the frailties in this team.I for one will be glad when he leaves and we can change this awful slow square ball obsessed game we play..

Was pretty bored for most of the match to be fair. Spuds didn't want to attack and we didn't look bothered about trying to win. I love Flamini's passion but you can see his legs have gone now. God help us if he plays versus Chelski!
