After a seemingly endless transfer saga between Arsenal and Higuaín, he will in fact be suiting up at the Emirates this weekend, just not for the club we would have hoped.

It will be very interesting to see how fans react to both Wenger and Napoli new-boy Higuaín at the Emirates when the visitors face Arsenal on Saturday.

After having agreed a fee with Real Madrid, then Madrid increasing the fee at the last minute, then Wenger deciding Higuaín was not worth that price tag, then Napoli coming in for him, then Higuaín expressing his preference for Arsenal over Napoli, then still being snubbed by Wenger, we lost him.

The Napoli vice-captain now has a crucial role to play after the departure of Edinson Cavani. His partnership with the Uruguayan was one of the key factors behind Napoli’s recent success, and now their talisman has left, it is time for Hamsik to step up.

The Slovakian attacking midfielder is a very talented player.11 goals and 17 assists in 44 appearances last season in all competitions for Napoli speaks for itself. Very few can rival his eye for a pass, and combining this with his touch, pace and energy make him very dangerous and capable footballer.

When Emmanuel Eboue left the Emirates and headed to Turkey what seems like a lifetime ago, I was distraught as I thought I would never see him at Ashburton grove again.

Luckily, the Emirates Cup line-up this year has given me the opportunity to see his cheeky grin once again.  Eboue has always been one of my favourite players, not necessarily because of his ability, but for so many other things.

Ups and Downs

One of the darkest moments in Arsenal’s history was when Eboue was booed of the pitch by his own fans as he was subbed off just minutes after being subbed on.

The Emirates Cup this year looks to be quite an exciting one as all four teams - Arsenal, FC Porto, Galatasaray and Napoli - have qualified for next season’s Champions League.

In the Emirates Cup each team plays two games, Napoli and Galatasaray in Arsenal’s case. Three points for a win, one for a draw and a point for every goal scored, though, in 2011 the extra point per goal rule was removed. But the rule is back again and rewards attacking play, with teams being awarded one point for each goal they score.

It is an exciting tournament for both the players and fans as it is a chance to win a trophy and enjoy playing against top competition. In a recent interview with arsenal.com, Jack Wilshere revealed that the team is very excited for the Emirates cup.

We are approaching the start of August now and the marquee signing that we have been promised still hasn’t arrived. A whole host of names have been linked yet the only addition to our small squad is the young Frenchman Yaya Sanogo.

Same old Arsene

Could the reason for this be a lack of available targets, or because Arsene Wenger simply doesn’t want to spend. Amy Lawrence from the Guardian claimed last night that the latter.
