Arsenal will play pre-season fixtures in Indonesia for the first time since 1983 next summer, with a game against the Indonesian national team scheduled for July 13-14.

Arsenal have toured Asia for the past two pre-seasons, with great success, and now Indonesia will join in on the fun.

Pre-season tours of this type can be inconvenient but are a crucial form of income for worldwide clubs like Arsenal.

After news broke that Arsenal were pushing hard to sign David Villa for Barcelona, a couple of sources spoke up to claim the deal wasn't occurring at all.

Spanish journalist and general Barcelona mouthpiece Guillem Balague was incredibly dismissive, stating Barcelona weren't interested in selling, and that the Villa situation was 'case closed until summer'.

This was followed by Sky Sports' Bryan Swanson reporting that Arsenal themselves had denied being in talks with Villa.

Arsenal appear ready to go all-out to recruit David Villa. The Spanish striker has been a long-time target for the winter window, but Barcelona have been reluctant at best to allow him to leave the club.

As the transfer deadline looms (Thursday, in case you weren't sure), Arsenal are confident they can push through what would be a marquee transfer.

Breakthrough

Arsene Wenger has refused to accept defeat in his pursuit of the forward and has been encouraged that the runaway La Liga leaders have softened their stance on selling him in recent days.

Arsenal come off a confidence-boosting victory in the Premier league to an away tie against lower-league opposition, hoping to use the cup as a springboard to greater success. Unfortunately, they crashed out to Bradfo..... Never mind. Got confused. Doesn't help that the club Arsenal are facing begins with the letter B.

But the sentiment remains the same. Arsenal cannot afford to replicate their Jekyll and Hyde form of the season, where they can be swashbuckling one game and stale the next.

Arsenal have been linked repeatedly with a move for Atletico Madrid forward Adrian Lopez throughout January and the preceding month, with there being rumours of advanced talks and bids for the player, who has had a mixed campaign at Madrid due to a contract dispute.

However, no move has materialised as yet and Adrian himself has claimed to be unaffected and uninterested in the rumours surrounding his future.

Very happy

Adrian had this to say about the possibility of a move:

"We are used to them and do not take them seriously. I am very happy at Atletico."
