At 11pm on 2nd September, the transfer window will slam shut, and most teams will be left happy with the deals that they have done. After that, the focus will be on the rest of the premier League season... until January.
The good news is that Arsenal have signed a second player of the window, the bad news is that he is a 29-year-old who is re-signing for us having played from 2004-2008. Mathieu Flamini will join on a free transfer after AC Milan let the Frenchman go, and will earn £30k a week at the Emirates.
However now here is real concern that Arsenal will fail to tie up any ‘real’ deals this summer, having failed to dip into the reported £70million kitty available.

Despite our seeding in pot one, for UEFA’s Champions League Group Stage Draw this morning, we ended up with a tough draw.
Group F: Arsenal, Dortmund, Marseille, Napoli.
People seem to be more positive than negative on twitter, minus Piers Morgan and his son Spencer Morgan who are always quite pessimistic.
Here are some of the best tweets about the draw:
Great news re Arsenal's CL group of death draw - we'll probably come 4th, which is like winning a trophy! #Dortmund #Marseille #Napoli

Then long wait for another transfer announcement goes on and on.
Over the road, Spurs are signing every player in existence yet at the Emirates Arsene Wenger is holding off announcing the transfer of Mathieu Flamini despite the deal being done.
The announcement is on hold until Wenger makes a big name signing, as we reported not long ago. However if that big name signing is never going to come then do we cancel the deal for Flamini?

Fenerbahçe were ultimately banned by UEFA and therefore, thrown out of European competition for two years.
The ban was a result of UEFA finding that Fenerbahçe club officials helped fix matches, which led them to win the 2011 Turkish League title.
Ultimately Pointless?
This would have been good news, had Arsenal lost to Fenerbahçe. But, we ended up suffering losses in the form of Ramsey, Wilshere and Podolski, all of whom were injured toward the end of the second leg. Though the tie may have been pointless, it was not all bad news as we saw Aaron Ramsey shine on a whole new scale throughout the two matches.

With Willian now added to the already long list of Chelsea midfielders: Lampard, Oscar, Hazard, Mata, Ramires, Mikel, van Ginkel, De Bruyne, Marin and Moses, Mata just might be crowded out.
An odd statement, I know, considering the fact that Mata has been Chelsea’s player of the year the past two years.
He might just be on the market, despite Mourinho stating that ‘he goes nowhere,’ as he has played a very bit-part role so far under Mourinho.
