A last grasp goal from Giroud secured all three points for Arsenal. The points were much needed with rivals Chelsea and Manchester United securing big wins. However, for most of the afternoon it looked like more dropped points with a poor display.

Cech – 6 – Didn’t have much to do and looked suspect from corners.

Bellerin - 7 – Should have scored but look dangerous throughout the afternoon.

Gabriel – 6 – Didn’t have much to do defensively but when needed was calm enough.

Koscielny – 6 – Didn’t have much to do defensively but when needed was calm enough.

Gibbs - 7 – Was having a good game until he picked up a knock.  Went forward to good effect and played more like a left wing back.

Coquelin – 7 – Was one of the better Arsenal players and continued to win the ball.

Xhaka – 7 – Continued to move the ball well and not afraid to have a shot from distance.

Iwobi – 6 – Was involved in many of the good moments and at least tried to create something. However, needs to stop trying to do fancy flicks.

Ӧzil – 6 – Had another poor game but delivered that piece of quality when it was needed for the goal.

Sanchez -7 – Was probably Arsenal’s best player as he was trying to make things happen.

Giroud – 6 – Scored the important goal but didn’t have the service to be effective.

Subs

Perez – 6 – Had 20 minutes and looked good with one cross the standout.

Monreal – 6 – Replaced the injured Gibbs and got forward to try and create an opening.

Ramsey – 6 – A positive substitute and had a shot which was excellently saved from Foster.

Overall, an important three points and an improving performance however, it is still not at the required level. There is a good run of games now which Arsenal need to capitalise on.
