To talk about the current situation Arsenal are in, let us face facts here it is not the best of times, seems to divide fans into two camps. In Arsene we trust and sack everyone now. If the Emirates had a cat like Anfield does he would be out too.

Well for me a walk along the fence has been an eye opener, you could write a novel on this but I know where I stand . As a fan since 1970 I have long held the view that you support your club through thick and thin and being divided does no good at all. Protests are all well and good but not at the expense of supporting the team on the pitch.

I have no doubt both sides feel they are right, however not one person gives a straight forward answer to all this. So here is my two pennyworth.

Right-hand man

First a goodbye to Pat Rice, he has been a faithful servant to the club but offers nothing new and should have been allowed to leave last season as he had wanted. Why?

Let us review, he was renowned as a defender for Arsenal, he should be coaching a back four as per the time spent with George Graham. Is he?

Think of Arsenal's back line now and that answers question rather well.

Also his comments over the last years since 2005.......yes I know, apart from standing in when Arsene, banned, from the touchline, he had a press conference where we heard we did the best we could. Does Pat have an opinion? Maybe when he writes a book.

I understand you never counter your bosses views, or why work there! He is never seen to question but if anyone can give me a definitive answer to a great statement from Pat Rice as Arsene's second I will happily take that on board. He has just been in the job as a second far too long and that is a comfort zone. No ambition to be number one at Arsenal or anywhere else. He loves Arsenal, me too but as for gaining experience elsewhere? So, I rest my case. See Ray Wilkins example if you doubt people do this!

A strong assistant to be appointed, from outside of the current club set up, Tony Adams would be my choice and free to speak their mind without fear. Yes keep Arsene Wenger but have someone to question as well as aid. There is no point in jumping on the manager revolving door policy

Selling & Buying players

The current squad is under more pressure than ever to produce so cull the deadwood at the end of the season, free up some of the wasted squad places for players that want to play.

Normally I do not go for naming names, the press do this for Arsenal time and time again. I will say though that Arshavin, Chamakh, Squillaci need to look at themselves. Then there is the likes of Denilson, Bendtner and Vela all out on loan, wasting valuable resources.

All Arsene Wenger buys the lot of them so is anyone doing a David Dein role at Arsenal. We do not need to buy big names for the sake of it, just buy wisely and not in a panic as last summer. Let’s face it, to keep your best players you need to show you want to succeed.

Money talks

Last but not least, a clear voice from the board. Tell the fans if money is there or not, be honest about the state of the club and give a clear statement of  intent for the clubs future.

Gazidis has repeatedly said that funds are there for transfers for Arsene to spend. Is there? If there is how much? Judging by the AST meeting last night maybe not.

Arsenal are not in the same situation as Man City or Chelsea , this we know all too well but this kind silence the club has gives fans like myself no confidence for the future. A good business model works when the business is successful. In football terms that equates to trophies and league titles.

For Gazidis to come out and say we can live without Champions League football and Arsene to say fourth will be our trophy leaves me with a bad taste.

well put. it's unfortunate that we've come to a point where we have to ask the hard questions. I want a solution to come soon, but we have very little leg room and the evolution of the game on and off the pitch is frightening. if we don't keep up i feel we'll be left behind for good.

As for Wenger, i feel maybe that he has run his course at Arsenal. I for one feel forever indebted for what he has done for this club, and English football in general, but he has done all he can for us. As for replacements, i'd love to see Mourinho, but that's just my dream. Other than that, i am pretty unsure over who'd i would like to take over.
A few brave decisions have to be made by all parties to bring this club back to where it belongs.

I am unsure what i think on the whole situation. Yes, there is a desperate need of some drastic changes at Arsenal, don't think anyone can dispute that.
A lot of players need to move on, both for their sakes and ours; Arshavin, Chamakh, Bendtner, Diaby to name but a few. We also need to sign players that are different from the current crop of players that we have, no nonsense players, maybe even by giving Frimpong more of a chance, to add a bit of bite that has been missing for many years now.
