Arsène Wenger is keeping tabs on the immediate future of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender, after Chelsea declared their interest in prime target Sami Khedira.

The German midfielder, whose twin brother Sven plays for Borussia Dortmund, is only 25 years-old, therefore any deal that is to be concluded will cost the Gunners dearly in their quest to improve their squad ahead of the new season.

Arsenal have been given mixed signals over the prospect of signing Germany midfielder Sami Khedira, after it was revealed that Chelsea are ready to hijack any potential deal from the Gunners.

The former Stuttgart player, who will compete in the World Cup final tomorrow, is thought to be valued by Real Madrid at approximately £20 million, more than the Gunners are willing to pay.

However, despite the big money signing of Alexis Sanchez, Talk Sport host Stan Collymore revealed on Twitter that Khedira’s agent has informed him of Arsenal’s advanced talks over the player.

Debuchy deal has been completed and we are just waiting for Arsenal to confirm the deal.

All formalities such as fee, personal terms and medical are sorted.

The Chronicle claim he will cost Arsenal £10 million although; this fee could rise due to bonuses such as appearances.

The deal is expected to be announced next week.

Sami Khedira could be the next summer signing after the confirmation of Sanchez and the imminent confirmation of Debuchy.

Spanish reports suggest Arsenal have submitted a €30 million euro bid for the midfielder however, wages could be a stumbling block.

This comes after Ivan Gazidis confirmed to Arsenal fan TV that a defensive midfield could be the next but wouldn’t talk about it as the deal is not done. Robbie asked holding midfielder? Which Gazidis replied “I’m not going to talk about it until it’s done”

Arsenal officially confirmed the signing of Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez yesterday to signal a second huge transfer in as many summer transfer windows.

Sanchez who graced the World Cup with his excellent performances was one of the star men for Chile who were rather unfortunate to leave the competition so early.

After years of Arsenal missing out on the best players the £35 million signing of Sanchez added to the acquisition of Mesut Ozil last year signals the club is moving in the right direction.
