After Saturday's 4-1 demolition of Sunderland, it seems Jack Wilshere has been reflective of the team's performance over the weekend and last Wednesday against Bayern.

"Against Bayern, we were on top for the first 20 minutes and had a great chance to score but didn’t, so we wanted to continue that [against Sunderland], stay high and win the ball back.

Once we won the ball back in their half, we always looked dangerous."

Improvement needed

He was also quick to state that the Gunners need to improve and that he wishes to see the team pressing high up the pitch like Barcelona and Real Madrid:

So after the weekends great result, word has come out from Wenger that "Tomas Rosicky will stay".

After seeing one of the best team goals in the league this year, along with Jack Wilshere's, news is coming out that Arsenal and Rosicky have agreed a deal for him to stay with the club.

Wenger has said:

Yesterday, saw the return of the Premier League and an Arsenal win however, there were a few injury concerns.

Nacho Monreal got replaced at half time which Arsene Wenger says was a kick to the ankle. Monreal was replaced by Carl Jenkinson which meant Bacary Sagna went to left back.

However, on the 67th minute Laurent Koscienly had to go off with a back problem which meant another re-shuffle at the back with Sagna going to centre back.

The match against Sunderland on Saturday saw the return of Olivier Giroud which consequently showed why Giroud is missed when he isn’t in the Arsenal team.

An early goal soon settled any nerves arsenal fans had with a neat shot around Vito Mannone after a lovely reverse pass by Jack Wilshere.

This was then followed by an interception of a back pass which Giroud took first time which showed the confidence he had.

Arsenal’s third goal was lovely play but the touch by Giroud to get it through to Tomáš Rosický was class and showed how good Giroud especially if he has runners beyond him.

There was a fair amount of optimism around the Emirates Stadium this past week because Bayern Munich had come to town and that was expected. The fans were excited hoping something special may occur especially with the recent memory of Arsenal beating Barcelona 2-1 with the famous voice of Martin Tyler shouting Arshavin.

This was noticeable when the team came out to a rousing reception which got everyone’s blood flowing and adrenalin pumping. The atmosphere was brilliant which went up another level to previous games and allowed Arsenal to make a tremendous start and that followed when Mesut Ӧzil won a penalty for Arsenal.

Arsenal’s record signing decided to take responsibility and take the spot kick although seemingly low on confidence with a few poor performances over recent weeks.
