The Napoli vice-captain now has a crucial role to play after the departure of Edinson Cavani. His partnership with the Uruguayan was one of the key factors behind Napoli’s recent success, and now their talisman has left, it is time for Hamsik to step up.

The Slovakian attacking midfielder is a very talented player.11 goals and 17 assists in 44 appearances last season in all competitions for Napoli speaks for itself. Very few can rival his eye for a pass, and combining this with his touch, pace and energy make him very dangerous and capable footballer.

Fans at the Emirates Cup this weekend can expect to see him in a number 10 role behind once Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain.

As well as being able to play in an attacking trequartista position, Hamsik also has the ability to play in a deeper role or even on the flanks cutting inside and creating opportunities for his teammates.

Hamsik is very reliable in possession and has been likened to Frank Lampard in the past due to his incisive runs into the box and impressive goal tallies.

In Napoli’s clash with Arsenal on Saturday, Mikel Arteta is going to have to keep a close eye on him.

What is Wenger doing cannot buy a single player except Yaya who was for free. Wenger must wakeup he is loaded with money but cannot use it. So many options on the market but too naïve to act. Its weird
