Luis Suarez’ comments on Wednesday have understandably infuriated Brendan Rodgers. Describing his comments as ‘a total disrespect of the club’, Suarez has been made to train in isolation.

Rodgers has not been angered by the personal attack in which the Uruguayan claimed the Reds boss had lied and broken promises, but more because of the disrespect to his team mates, manager and more importantly the club.

“There has been total disrespect of the club - this is a lack of respect of a club that has given him everything. Absolutely everything, we have a standard at Liverpool and I will fight for my life to retain it. The Liverpool Way is all about being committed to the cause and fighting for the shirt. It’s also about dignity and being dignified in how you speak about the club. And it’s about unity,” stated Rodgers.

“If anyone steps outside of those values then I have to deal with it.”

Not For Sale

This latest statement from Rodgers has further outlined that the forward is not for sale. Owner John Henry echoed the same thoughts.

However the problem Liverpool now face is whether to hold out for a £50m asking price for a player who has now undeniably burnt all bridges within the club, or accept Arsenal’s offer and quickly get rid of an influence which has totally marred Liverpool’s pre-season plans.

The Liverpool players and coaches are starting to get fed up with Suarez’ behaviour, rubbing further salt in to the wound by failing to attend Steven Gerrard’s testimonial dinner. His stand is now is now very public and Liverpool have a big decision to make.

“The reality is we don’t want to sell Luis Suarez, it’s as simple as that. He is important for what we are trying to do. There have been a couple of offers but no promises broken - that’s the reality. I don’t believe there is a clause in his contract that says he can leave for any sort of price.”

“What we are trying to do now is get the correct value for a player, but we know we don’t have to sell him.”

What now?

That last comment from Rodgers indicates that if Arsenal can produce the £50m, then Suarez is ours.

However, one can understand Arsene Wenger’s position of not wanting to pay the asking price of a player who clearly has no future at the club.

Liverpool should swallow their pride, get rid of a disruptive influence and start their season in the most positive of lights, rather than having a big ego tarnish the name of such a famous football club.

Why hold on to a player who has expressed dissatisfaction in the club then you go on to brand him that he lacks respect for taking a stand on the matter. About how Suarez will fare in Arsenal shouldn't be a subject to discuss with those who do not wish him well, by the way, they would be surprised.

"I think what Liverpool is doing now is to demoralize him, like they did to Torres; kill his football and get a good amount for him..."

its pretty difficult to demoralize someone to help get a good amount for him

Even as an Arsenal fan I think Saurez's recent behaviour has been poor and unprofessional. If you're still under a contract you have to honour it.

If we sign him, I just hope he doesn't pull this sort of crap to leave Arsenal.

Caveat Emptor.

But they are forgetting its Arsene who'd be handling him..

just because arsenal bend over whenever one of their big name players want to leave doesnt mean everybody else has to do the same!

so if he comes to arsenal and next summer real/barca/bayern come in for him you'll be saying the same again right?

I think as a Liverpool fan that the club should get rid of Suarez. He's been trouble wherever he's gone. He seems to think that good performances make him a law unto himself. Good luck with him Arsenal. He'll probably score at Anfield next season, if he's not serving a ban and you'll find he's looking for pastures new with 2 years as Arsenal's trophy-less run continues. His war cry will be that he was told he could leave if Arsenal did not achieve a treble of the Champions League Premier League and FA Cup. Of course he'll have done his best (17% chance conversion) but the team will have come up short. Arsenal and Liverpool missed their opportunity with Soldado (27% conversion rate).

I for one would be happy if this deal falls through. Suarez isn't going to magically change under Wenger and although he'll score goals, we don't need that kind of disruption when we're trying to build a team. We definitely need a striker but should we really go for him just because he's the only one available?

Suarez should hand in a transfer request than everything falls in place.no amount of media patronage with request is meaningful..the real issue is financial

What he has done is worse than a transfer request,it won't change the situation for the fact they are also pissed at arsenal I can see them selling him for 35m to a foreign club

Alls I say is god help the next team to get the rat, a mean do AFC think that he won't do all this to them he has done it to the last 3 teams he has been at! I would not be surprised if wenger backs off because we have seen another side to Suarez this last week, Suarez is the player he is today because he never gives up always works hard and is always moving around well that was what he used to do !
Now he is not training properly not showing any respect to himself nor the club not turning up for gerrards testimonial night? Calling the manager a LIER ! Not signing outdo graphs for the fans and not even acnolidging the fans! If the gunners think they are different than any other club well lets wait and see . . . . . . . . .

I think All Arsenal fans like to hope he is on his way, but LFC arnt daft. He wont be ging to Arsenal in a pink fit.

I think Arsenal have to think long and hard about the fact that Suarez will almost certainly agitate the same way for a move from Arsenal (should he sign for them) if real come knocking the season after. He says he's moving for champs league football but he'll have a different reason the season after. Don't forget moved from Ajax (champs league) to Liverpool for a 'bigger club' n he'll do it again to you guys!

This is precisely why Liverpool won't drop their asking price, this has now become a battle of wills, nobody is going to back down.
