Mikel Arteta is facing up to 6 weeks out of action after sustaining a thigh injury. The irony of Arsenal losing a key player today who wasn’t even out on international duty is a demoralizing thought. This leaves Arsenal with just 2 recognised centre midfielders potentially until October.

The usual way that clubs conduct transfer business is to buy players in areas where they are short, yet this seems to constantly go amiss for Arsene Wenger. Going into the start of a new season with 3 midfield players (not even including the laughable fact that we still have Diaby on our books) is ludicrous.

We have 1 deep lying defensive midfielder and now that he will miss 6 weeks, it is now up to Ramsey or Wilshere to fill this void- a prospect that will cause us many problems. Neither player is naturally defensive minded and against strong teams who will fill the midfield, we will be caught out no doubt.

A quick fact for you, with Arteta in the side we win 68% of matches- without just 20%. Pull your finger out Arsene, this is becoming a joke.

Frankly it is pathetic that come Saturday and our season opener, we still have our transfer kitty very much in tact. Another player who could have helped us massively just joined the Spuds down the road- Etienne Capoue.

He would have fitted seamlessly into our midfield but £8 million was clearly too much for Mr.Wenger. And how do I break this as well? Gustavo is on the verge of joining Wolfsburg- we’re in trouble.

Enjoy the game Saturday and lets not vent our frustration on the team, they will give it their all so lets get behind them- its not their fault that our transfer policy is a joke. But if Villa go 1-0 up, I for one will be joining in with those ‘Spend some f****ing money’ chants.

Surely if we still have the likes of Diaby in our fold indeed it's a laughable fact. How doe's Wenger take of us ? that we don't see that that is is a player that will never improve and needs to be offloaded. We have seen players come in when bad, they improve and even go to bigger clubs, but this one.. look at the likes of Flamini, Song and so on.Come on Wenger.

Any positive legacy that could have been attributed to Wenger is becoming tenuous at best. Clearly he is not equipped to deal with football as it now is - he is unable (or unwilling because he doesn't agree with it) to adapt to today's big money game. Put your ego away Wenger and move the club forward, or move out. Now.

I am not a Spurs fan but Arsenal fans moan the most in the league. Living in the past and very arrogant. Don't you think Arsenal are trying to sign players. Get over yourself and grow up.

Quoting Ricky:
Arsenal fans already making excuses then. Yawn.

Excuses? What are you on about you thick spud? This is about wanting\expecting the club to make signings.

Simply finishing above the never won a title in my Nans lifetime isn't an issue. Arsenal fans were expecting serious investment for the first time since moving to the state of the art world class 60000 sweater stadium.

Has this been confirmed? Everyone keeps linking to the same tweet by a Sky Sports journalist on his personal twitter account....

I was about to ask the same thing! Not seen any quotes from anywhere else, either.

The vacuum between Wenger and the board has created this mess. Wenger has too much responsibility and too much power. He should give names to a director of football whose job it is to sign them, sort out fees and wages.

Let's face it, no one but Wenger agrees with his own valuations.

Sad to say, this could be an ugly last season for him.

I'm convinced this will force Wenger and his penny pinching to pay up for a proper CDM FINALLY. I wonder If Luiz Gustavo not announcing anything yet, has anything to do with Arteta. My thinking is with Arteta being out for a bit, if Gustavo were to come in he would start in his place automatically(I really hope we buy a CDM, and soon).

Again we bury our heads well done Mr Wenger for making the directors happy and keeping the purse strings firmly closed. I think there will be 90% of the supporters tuning up for the MONEY song should we go 0-1 down on Saturday.
