German international Mesut Ozil has passed his medical at Arsenal and is in the process of signing the paperwork for the Gunners.

BBC Sport and Sky Sports both understand that Ozil will join Arsenal for €50million to smash the club’s record transfer fee on the last day of the transfer window.

Along with breaking through the club’s transfer record, the player’s wages will destroy the club’s current structure and make him one of the highest paid players in England. He will join German international teammates Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker in Arsenal red, the first of whom has spent the day retweeting Ozil-related reactions to further confirm the deal.

Stats

Since August 2008 Mesut Ozil has created 353 chances from open play - that's also more than any other player across Europe's top 5 leagues.

Mesut Özil has 72 assists in the last five seasons - more than any other player across Europe's top five leagues.

Announcement

It is a matter of time before Arsenal confirm the deal as official, with the club eager to announce the signing of the season as early as possible so they can get back to deals concerning teammate Angel di Maria and Chelsea’s Demba Ba.

Sky Sports’ twitter feed have claimed that the deal should be made official around 6pm English time with all three parties happy with the deal going ahead.

Stay tuned for the official announcement.

If Chelski want £3 million loan fee for Ba, we might as well chuck on another few million to buy him!

Come on Wenger! Keep it coming. Ba, DM and CB needed!
