Arsenal midfield star Mesut Ozil will miss his country’s friendly with England on Tuesday after coach Joachim Loew claimed that he will allow his to rest.

Ozil will sit out the clash along with Bayern Munich duo Manuel Neuer and Phillip Lahm as all three played in the San Siro on Friday.

Neuer and Lahm completed the full 90 and Ozil just over half an hour as the Germans dominated against a strong Italy side, scoring in the 8th minute and hitting the woodwork 3 times in the 1-1 draw.

And coach Loew has now claimed he will send the trio home in order to test out some new tactics before the build-up to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

"The England game is our last chance before the World Cup to try out one or two new tactical variations and personnel," said the 53-year-old coach.

"Philipp Lahm, Manuel Neuer and Mesut Ozil are part of the absolute backbone of our team and for me, it is more important now to give other players a chance to prove themselves in these key positions, particularly against such a strong team as England."

“They will have a chance to prove themselves.”

Germany have a long list of creative players that could be on show in place of Ozil at Wembley on Tuesday, including the likes of Marco Reus of Dortmund, Lars Bender and Sidney Sam of Bayer Leverkusen, Mario Gotze of Bayern Munich, Andre Hoffman of Hannover or Arsenal January transfer window target Julian Draxler of Schalke.
