Arsenal have received an early Christmas present as according to French daily newspaper L’Equipe, Laurent Koscielny will only be out for 10-15 days after suffering a big gash on his left knee on Saturday.

The incident against Manchester City led to the defender being stretchered off the pitch and Gunners fans could have been forgiven for fearing the worst but this will come as a relief.

Big boost ahead of Xmas

Koscielny had to have ten stitches in his knee but is likely to be providing Arsene Wenger with his services for the busy period coming up.

L’Equipe believe the France international could be back as soon as Boxing day where the Gunners make the short trip across London to face West Ham.

Return after Christmas

However a more likely return will be either the away match against Newcastle on December 29th or New Years day against Cardiff.

In Koscielny’s absence we will have an adequate replacement in Thomas Vermaelen who has been resigned to a substitute role for the past playing few months.

It is a shame Per Mertesacker and Koscielny can’t take up their roles in the heart of Arsenal’s defence ahead of Monday’s crucial clash with Chelsea but I sure everyone shares the same confidence in Vermaelen.

As Koscielny has been one of our best defenders this season and this whole calendar year in fact, we wish him a speedy recovery.

I wish LK a quick return but isnt it always the same that when we face a big rival we'v always got a key player out.In the Utd game if per had been playing van purse would never have got to that cross. Now it Chavski and Kos is out.As for do we need a striker? Look at what Suarez gives an average Liverpool team and the answers very clear.
