Schalke are stubborn on their £35million valuation on the German however Arsenal’s tabled £30million offer is likely to reach the required figure with add-ons.

Fee

MailOnline writer Rob Draper has reported that a small compromise in the fee is likely to take place, however should not affect the overall outcome of the negotiations:

“Schalke and Arsenal are still in negotiations for the 20-year-old but the player wants to move to the club and the expectation on both sides is that a compromise will be reached this week.

“Arsenal do not want to go higher than £30million while Schalke want close to £35m. Ultimately Arsenal are likely to agree to a deal with additional clauses that could bring the fee up to what Schalke want.”

Arsene Wenger’s change in attitude towards spending big in the transfer window looks set to continue just 5 months after the club record £42million signing of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid. Such big money signings are often referred to as “high-risk” however the Ozil switch has seen the whole team lifted and the League title now looks a real possibility.

Big transfers can go wrong, with London rivals Spurs spearheading the examples of wasted money. After splashing £56million on Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela, all they have to show for it is a disjointed side and a sacked manager.

Das Ärsenal

The 4-0 win against Coventry on Friday night looked to be a huge advertisement for the 20-year-old German to come to the Emirates.

After Wenger brought on 17-year-old starlet Gedion Zelalem in the 71st minute, Arsenal had FIVE Germans on the field.

Youngster Zelalem joined Lukas Podolski, Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Serge Gnabry on the field and showed Draxler how easy it would be for him to feel at home in North London.

A deal could be completed as soon as Tuesday with the transfer deadline day looming large on Friday.

Draxtic developments indeed.Tired of waiting for a new baby though.Better sign players than complaining when others sign.
