Arsenal’s disappointing setback away at Stoke City has provoked many Gunner supporters to question Arsene Wenger’s lack of movement in the transfer window for a striker.

Olivier Giroud took much of the criticism as Jonathan Walter’s penalty was enough to give the Midlands side all 3 points at the Britannia, with the Frenchman’s brace against Sunderland being his only goals in the last 5.

The last striker that Wenger bought, Yaya Sanogo, was also on show briefly for Arsenal – and blazed the last chance over the bar from 8 yards.

The support was as vocal as ever:…

@Rosey_84 “#Arsenal simply need to go out and buy a World class striker -- money is there. Champs league should be there too. Cavani my choice.”

@dosinclair “A Team like @arsenal should always win a game with a world class striker when playing badly but we don't have that! #KeepTheFaith #COYG”

@originalricj “When will #Arsenal learn? We needed to reinforce the squad and buy players in the January transfer window eg a striker”

@JackLovett17 “Ohh Arsenal, don't you wish you bought a striker Wenger? #Afc”

@gunner4real “Striker like Giroud and Sanogo are not juz good enough for a team like Arsenal. Don't even know what he saw in Sanogo b4 signing him”

@estrellajoven “If Arsenal lose the title this season then its simply as arsene said his fault . This should have been ours by now if a striker was bought.”

@tomgunner14 “Arsenal should have signed a striker in January. Missing Walcott and Ramsey!"

@BPLnews365 “When Aguero joined City Silva became a better player, the same thing can happen to Özil if a world class striker joins Arsenal #COYG #AFC”

@AFCholic “New Arsenal drinking game for people looking to cut down their drinking: Take a shot every time you see Giroud facing the opposition goal.”

@KWAHME_FLEX “I dont know if Giroud can become a better player for Arsenal but honestly a part of me dies whenever i see him in our team.”

@icejayde “Giroud sanogo arteta are certainly not arsenal quality”

Honestly, a part of me dies too whenever i see Giroud on the pitch coz he isn't Arsenal material en as for Ozil, i still believe he is the best passer of the ball but the likes of Giroud make him look bad just because they don't know how to move and get the ball when Ozil has it. How i wish we had a striker that understands Ozil, he would be the top scorer as of now.

Quoting Freddy:
I have to agree with Icejayde. We should have a much better midfielder than Arteta. Sure, he can last 90 minutes and has an impressive passing rate but we need much more than that. Compare him to Song and Song created assists, tackled hard, passed well & also scored. Arteta lacks total Arsenal quality.

I agree, Arteta is a liability and should not start another game, Wonga is to blame for this rubbish agin. He picks and buys the players, he has lost his way, sad but its the truth. The sooner he goes the better, he is a boards man make money for the club because to him thats like a trophy. The board are happy Stan is happy the only people who are not is the fans and they pay a small forte to watch has beens and a specialist in failer take the club nowhere.

If we fail to win any silverware Wenger should be blame cause he was better to buy Diogo Costa from A.Madrid rather buy Ozil from R.Madrid.Ozil is to lazy and he can help the team encase of team straggle to win the game

As usual a side with lightweights and pansys capitulates against a pub team managed by a bitter taff.we knew it would happen cos it always does. Do you think Vieira,Petit,Henry,K eown,Adams etc would of let those 2nd rate mugs take the liberties they did??A new manager and a new team of men is whats needed.no more kids and foriegn dwarfs!!

Wenger is the main barrier between Arsen as l and trophies. He used to be great but has been surpassed and has failed to display the necessary flexibility to adapt the team's tactics to rither the opposition or the state of any given game. If plan A isn't working we are SOL - there's no plan B. To add to this, as other posters have mentioned, we do not have a top striker. Sanogo is a manager's dream - if you happen to be the manager of our opponents. I do not believe we will win another trophy while Wenger is the manager.

Usmanov is the man.God will punish arsene n stan.

Mr wenger is simply confused n has nothing new to give to arsenal n so should leave if he fails to win the league.he is too stubborn n thinks he knows it all. He supported stan to takeover because he wants to be in charge
