One week he’s paraded as god and the next he’s the devil. I must only be talking about one man and that is Arsene Wenger.

After yesterday’s performance Wenger has come under a massive amount of criticism from Arsenal fans and this was expected but let’s get one thing straight the players are to blame as well.

Players underperformed and Wenger even openly laid into his players which is unusual for him. This is what he told journalists and was placed  in the Mirror.

"It is not slightly worrying, it's a big worry for us to lose a game like that.

"It is a massive setback of course.

"I felt we had a good defensive performance and overall we were unlucky to lose this game. Offensively we didn't create enough and our offensive game was poor considering our standards."

Excuses

This was unusual by Wenger as he normally makes excuses to protect his players but he did not hide behind some awful decision that the Referee Mike Jones made and was adamant in this by saying “Honestly I don't want to talk about the referee”

The fans

It is disappointing by the fans once again and I’ll probably get a lot of criticism for what I’m about to say. I’ve seen so much of the same thing this year and that is Arsenal fans being fickle.

When Arsenal win we are right to stick by Wenger when we lose he has to go. Arsenal fans need to get their priorities straight and Wenger is one of the most hardest working managers.

Arsenal fans sicken me when they take the famous Mourinho quote of “Specialist in Failure” You are meant to be Arsenal fans yes we haven’t won a trophy in 9 years but teams always go through a spell of decline. Arsenal are on their way back and with Wenger anything is possible.

Contract

If Arsenal fans carry on like this then Arsene Wenger will not sign a new contract and who could blame him. It wasn’t so long ago people wanted Owen Coyle or David Moyes to take over just ask Manchester United fans about how Moyes is doing.

I’m starting to worry that Arsenal fans will drive Wenger out.

One last thought

If Arsenal finish third and win the FA cup then I consider that to be a successful season and progress made especially as one trophy breeds another.

However, if you have called Wenger a specialist in failure or called for Wenger’s head then I don’t want you celebrating any success we have and showing love for Arsene Wenger because we all know you don’t really believe that.

quoting Logic,
You seem to misunderstand the situation yourself. We know about previous financial constraints but this has to do with Wengers inability to use the right tactics. He does not use the current players in the best positions at the right time depending on the opposition. He also seems incapable of altering the course of a game by making appropriate changes. Maybe he should come and see what the fans are seeing because on the sidelines he's wearing blinkers. We also don't want the petty excuses after the game. If he's trying to protect the players he shouldn't, it only makes them soft.
Don't think I misunderstand at all, there are so many want to be managers out there that can do the job so much better than Wenger, all so simple from the stands isn't it?
I take the view that AW watches the players day after day he knows far better than anyone what they are capable of.

Everyone's says it's easy from the Stands and who are you to know better than the manager. It is so frustrating when the majority of the crowd can see what's wrong but the one person that should know better than us can't see it, or is incapable of changing the situation. As much as the majority are grateful to Wenger for what he achieved in the past, there is a portion of fans that would like a change. What are you scared of, winning nothing!

Has something been lost in translation? I do not agree with those that think they can do the job better than Arsene Wenger and perhaps you don't realise that you are criticising one of the top five football managers in the world, as voted for by other managers ie they know what they are talking about. As you seem to think your better than Wenger, do your badges apply for jobs and who knows, you might be as good as you think you are!

The only thing I would be worried about is Wenger going, if that happened I bet you would be one of the first to complain when we are fighting to stay in the Prem, make no mistake Wenger goes and we head for the championship!

Arsenal will not go into the championship under new management. History should tell you this. I understand you not wanting change as it can be a scary thing, but be brave, it might not be as bad as you think.

Bunch of wallies on here do any of you understand just how broke Arsenal have been since the stadium build? In the car park under the stadium you walk to the lift to get to your required level, there should have been two lifts at each entry point but the second was bricked up because they didn't have the money every thing went to paying off the debt including Wengers transfer fund, prats who harp on about 9 years have no idea about our recent cash strapped history or more to the point ignore it as they can manage the club so much better. problem with most is they still have school to finish!

Stop playing one up front, start playing giroud and bendtener together and at least look as though we're trying to win a game.fed up with not enough strike force.playing one up front is just not good enough while chelsea and city are constantly playing 2 or 3 we play 1.put the ox upfront as well ,sure he is more than capable.for god sake put some faith in theese plyrs and I'm sure they will repay us.come on u gunners we can do this.

WE should at least gotten a draw from stoke game they continue to be a thorn in our side - because they know how , they frustrate us time and time again , Arsen got it wrong we showed way to much respect - from the first min we looked shakey and got our just rewards allbeit a dodgy penno/but why jump the gun right now when they need our backing - maybe we should concentrate on whats to come more positively ! Famous win in munich this time last year and we kicked on , we judge when the season's over - like the guy said above ( we owe him nothing nor dose he us ! stick at it we're low on confidence and a win away from kicking on ! striker should of been bought in the window - guess wha - he's not there and until the summer we have to make do ...... put up and shut up - i'm a frustrated life long fan and that wont change ! There is a glaring analogy to be made north of the border.

Celtic worked within a budget throughout the nineties while Rangers grossly overspent to win titles. The consequent entitlement and superiority complex came back to haunt them and they were subsequently liquidate, partially caused by their short sighted demand for success at all costs.

What happens in England when the sheiks, oligarchs and tycoons depart ? There will be great cause to thank Wenger as Arsenal will be light years ahead of competitors. None of which helps at the moment of course but the strategy is admirable.

By the way, I agree there are many reasons to be critical of Wenger, I cannot understand his persistent failure to buy a striker, but lets see how history judges the guy in twenty years or so.

The most important element of any sport is winning. Thats why we have sport. It is COMPETITION. Winning is good. Losing is bad. We have not won a trophy in 8 years. That is bad. We cannot blame payers because they have changed over the 8 years. Who do we blame? All the administrators who have a say in running the club.
It is not disloyal to critisize the people involved. We are not mindless followers. But we remain committed lifelong supporters of OUR club. It is OUR club. Not Wengers or anyone else. They will all leave in time. We will not.

Wenger is a very good coach but Manager no he isn't he has proved this time and again. He never really plan who he want in advance he only. The scouters can give him apetising and great names what does he do he just say yes we want them and then put the list in his ever pending tray. Now he tells us there are no good players out there aaah I signed Kim because it was 5pm on of the last day of the transfer day so I had to sidn him "wheel-chair pushed player" what kind of a joke? That man never take Arsenal serious. We went into the transfere window whilst the team was on top of the Log and important players such as Theo and Ramsey all on long injury and what Wenger does he increase the job for the Medical Staff instead of players on the picth. Does this not suit exactly Jose Morinho's discription? Jose was correct. This man never plan success or winning any trophy. If Wenger goes I will not shed any of my tears I will only worry of the replacement out there there are capable replacements eg Pep and Kloop. I will not shed a tear Mr wenger with due respect. Its better sooner than later

DaniaI, I don't know what planet you have been on these last ten years but it certainly hasn't been planet Arsenal. Arsene Wengers support among the fans has been eroding away slowly over the years, why ? Because the man has lost his way. The club has haemoraged young and experienced talent in recent years, you me and the fans know who they are . The fact that most of them have been winners since they left tells it's own story. To suggest that fans who criticise AW are fickle or subscribe to the views of a bottom feeder like Chelsea have is both disingenuous and insulting to the vast majority of fans who are genuinely concerned for the clubs prospects going forward. Nor do I agree with your contention that fans will drive Arsene away. He has displayed a stubborn streak some would suggest arrogance over the years, fans or their attitudes won't bother him. The bottom line now is Daniel that Arsenal fans have lost faith in the manager. And why wouldn't they ? Here is the man who told us that his panel was strong enough to see out the season. Here is the man who signed a player as cover for the midfield while everyone knew it was a striker we needed. The sad part was that he was aware of the players long term injury yet went ahead anyway. No Daniel your argument doesn't hold up. Arsene Wenger owes nothing to Arsenal likewise Arsenal owes nothing to him . Time for change, time to grasp the nettle now , time to plan for the future because if we don't we will end up in the same mess that United are in. Look at Barca , look at Bayern Munich . They get things right .

I think we need to accept that some gooners are at the end of their tether with this whole set up.Arsene was the right man at the right time.what he,s done for the club is historic.but lets remember there are generations of fans that dont know any other manager.just like utd.but unlike united we need to make our change as a planned progression. Personally this would be a good time for Arsene to move and take his backroom staff too.( not bouldy of course) Then maybe a De Boer/ Bergkamp managerial set up to take us onwards.

Love the club but Wonga must GO he has lost it, 8 no after this season 9 years without a trophy and he gets a new contract......only at Arsenal win nothing for 8 years and collect 30 million in wages. Its no wonder other fans are laughing at us.
+4 #4 dcdc 2014-03-02 21:51
So, Daniel, we are not permitted to express an opinion that is critical of Wenger? I believe you should rethink that one. I won't go into the raft of reasons why I have been critical of Wenger for the past 5 years or so - from his hubristically proud announcement that he was the author of the assinine wage structure which resulted in mediocre players being overpaid and unable to be offloaded, to his predelection for cheap but inadequate signings in recent years, to his failure to address gaping holes in the squad...etc. I'll simply say that to be told that basically I'm not a true gooner because I have such views, and that I should keep them to myself, is unacceptable on any level.
#3 Sexgod 2014-03-02 18:11
"Last paragraph of the article."

Similarly the author shall have no right to criticise the management even if we manage to extent our drought to 9 more years.
+5 #2 Gomes 12 2014-03-02 15:22
Wenger is a confused man.....his inability to keep his boys has caused him nine years without a trophy....we accuse him because right from the beginning, every pundit and fan ask for one thing.....a striker, but wenger said he had people to do the job......why is he complaining now....Giroud is the worst striker in the top six teams....and sanago and bendtner? They are championship materials not the premier league...
#1 pat 2014-03-02 13:42
this is rubbish article. Wenger is a failure like Morinho described him. Winning means nothing to him, how can a club of Arsenal stature ony have a young boy that is yet to score a goal as who to turn to in time of trouble. This is not gambling...despite all his wrongs, Bendtener should at least get a chance. Remember i diged us out if holes already this season. He has a better chance of scoring than Sanago.
