It is of the understanding of Kike Marin that Arsenal have activated the buy-back clause in Carlos Vela’s contract. Kike Marin was one of the first journalists to break the Ozil deal and is fairly reliable with his coverage of Spanish football.

Kike tweeted “#Arsenal activate buyback clause of 4M EUROS for Vela...”

This would be a bargain of a deal as Vela has matured while at Real Sociedad and has started to score goals however; there will be reservations about if he can hack it in the Premier League.

Let’s not forget Arsenal have had him before and must have not thought he would make it as they sold him. Although, he has improved which means he could turn out to be a piece of marvellous business.

Vela stats for 2013/14 read so far with one game to go as the following;  51 games in all competitions scoring 20 goals and contributing 13 assists which is an improvement on lasts seasons 14 goals and 9 assists in 36 games. Vela has scored 15 of his 20 goals in the league this season.

In my opinion Vela would represent good value for money but this doesn’t take away the fact that Arsenal need a world class striker. A world class striker, Giroud and Vela would make a strong strike force next year especially with the compliment of midfielders we have.

He's not a world class striker because he declined the invitation to play for Mexico in the World Cup.
He would be an ideal replacement for Giroud and for only 4m we'd be able to go for a target like Benzema.
