Arsenal have been linked with numerous forwards recently and another has entered the equation in Colombian Jackson Martínez.
The Porto forward’s agent has been discussing his clients future recently and revealed that the 27-year-old has meetings planned with a number of big European clubs.
€40 million release clause
Among them, are Arsenal and Portuguese newspaper Record believe that Arsène Wenger is ready to pay the Colombian’s €40 million release clause and recent comments suggest such a deal could take place soon.
Martínez’s Italian agent Peppino Tirri told Corriere Gialloroso that various meetings have been set up, Evening Standard reported the news.
Meetings set to take place
Tirri said: “I am waiting for Jackson Martínez’s manager, Henrique Pompeio, to arrive in Italy tonight for a series of transfer meetings we’ll have together.
“It’s true, he will fly in tonight because we have some meetings lined up to evaluate and find the right proposal for Jackson Martínez.
“We’ve got meetings set up with numerous European clubs, as he is of interest to Manchester United, Atlético Madrid, Arsenal and Valencia, but also important Italian sides.
“Yes, Roma are a concrete possibility, but they aren’t the only Serie A club interested in Martínez.
"I repeat, we have many meetings and a lot to do over the next few days."
More developments due
Arsenal Latest reported yesterday that Martínez was set for talks but the reports that Arsenal are willing to meet his buy-out clause is a new development.
Wenger and Arsenal are never known for doing their business early and whilst this is far from clear cut, there does seem to be genuine interest in bringing the Colombian to the Emirates.
This is definitely a transfer story to keep an eye on as developments are likely to occur over the next few days.

I like hiz character and believe is mature enough to change 4 d beta. no doubt he's world class. As 4 Cesc he is no doubt good but why did he live in d 1st place? It's time 2 move on without such footballing prostitutes and money makers
He will not achieve this if he signs the likes of Sanogo and other left overs!
If you recall, we had lost at home to Aston Villa in our first match last season, and the fans were rightly baying for Wenger's blood for displaying continued negligence in not signing a striker - or ANY big name player for that matter. So the board, sensing a nasty fan revolt, likely forced him to placate them with the ONLY, repeat ONLY, quality player left available ( remember this was the very last day of the transfer window - ( again ).
The irony was that Wenger was perdictably but unjustifiably, given all the credit for this signing, when it most probably wasn't his plan to do so in the first place.
Further credence to this is provided by the fact that we didn't even NEED an attacking midfielder, but a DEFENSIVE ONE - and amazingly enough after all this time - we STILL DO !
" In Arsene we rust."
