Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger has praised Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal amid claims the Premier League club are ready to make a move for him.

The Juventus maestro is rated as one of the best midfielders in the world and has starred since moving to the Italian club in 2011.

Wenger praises Vidal

The Gunners manager was recently asked what he thought of the 27-year-old and lavished praise on the Chile ace.

Metro quoted Wenger, he said:

“Vidal is one of the best midfielders in the world. He has everything. Incredible stamina, perfect timing. He’s a marathon athlete who plays football.”

Meanwhile earlier today the Metro stated that Arsenal were ready to bid a staggering £44 million for the midfielder.

Chilean media believe Arsenal in frame

They insist reports in the Chilean media believe the Gunners are ready to move for Vidal.

Manchester United have also been interested but the midfielder won’t move to Old Trafford because they can’t offer Champions League football.

Wenger, apparently, wants Vidal because of his quality but also because he feels the Arsenal midfield needs more options with Mikel Arteta possibly off back to Spain and Abou Diaby constantly injured.

More options needed in midfielder

It could be argued that the Gunners lack of options in midfield cost them a serious title challenge last season as once Aaron Ramsey sustained an injury their challenge faltered.

Daily Express echo the Metro’s claims and confirm that Juventus aren’t under any pressure to sell their Chile star but the amount of money Arsenal are set to offer would surely force their hand.

Whether Wenger would actually bid £44 million for Vidal remains to be seen, considering he smashed his previous record transfer just last summer.

However if the Juventus man was to come to the Emirates he would without doubt add to Arsenal’s title challenge and be another world class performer at the club.

I think he said he admired him...not that he'd bid 44 million for him. That's what Juve want. Makes no sense to spend that on a 27 year old midfielder. Whats the upside. It would be very un-Arsene to do that.
