It looks like Arsenal’s first signing of the summer may be Mathieu Debuchy.

The Chronicle, Newcastle local paper is reporting that Debuchy’s agent has already been in contact with Arsenal.

However, any deal will have to wait until France’s participation in the world cup is over.

It is believed that Arsenal will have to pay £12 million for his services which mean they will double their money. Debuchy will be Sagna’s replacement which has been the centre of discussion this summer.

No more #NUFC hashtag

Moreover, another thing which has changed in the past 24 hours is his Twitter bio. Debuchy has removed ‘#NUFC player’ from there which has indicated his long term future may be away from the club which has consequently added more fuel to the fire.

In my opinion, Debuchy will be an astute addition to this Arsenal team. Debuchy has impressed in this world cup and has premier league experience unlike Aurier.

Furthermore, Debuchy will provide excellent learning opportunities for understudies Jenkinson and Bellerin.

If Arsenal can get this deal done in then means we can move on in terms of other positions and targets.

Very nice if he becomes the first signing. After that we buy Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal

All these people complaining might want to check the stats for last season, Debuchy is statistically the best RB in the top 5 leagues last season. He will be sorely missed at Newcastle.

As a nufc fan, sorry to see him go but £12m??? If we can get Micah Richards for £6m then i think we'll have done well out of this.

We have Carl Jenkinson and Hector Bellerin waiting for an opportunity to step up. Debuchy will be an ideal player to mentor these future right backs without blocking their progress. I reckon he will give us three years good service and be tapered off when the youngsters are ready to take the weight full time.

Watched him at the Toon since he signed in 2013 and thought he was average, though this last season he has been brilliant. I would prefer him to Sagna and the French coach agrees too. He will be missed at Newcastle.

A very mediocre player who's always capable of a mistake defensively. ..should fit in nicely then!!! At £12m he's also hugely overpriced. Whilst I was no fan of Sagna ( since his leg breaks) and his inability to criss a ball zip don't feel that Debuchy offers what's required. In many ways he's not really much of an improvement on Jenkinson. ..A right sided version of Monreal!! If he's the shape of things to come then we'll all carry on being disappointed.

oh no - not happy with such an ordinary player with no chance of getting better. Waste of money. Might as well as offered more to Sagna. Poor start if that is what it us to be.
