Once touted as a future Arsenal captain, young midfielder Jack Wilshere has landed himself in hot water yet again, after being caught smoking and drinking on a holiday this week.

Wilshere, only 22-years-old, has tested the patience of the Arsenal hierarchy yet again, after pictures were spread over the Internet today over his holiday antics with friends in Las Vegas.

Wrong Direction

Accompanied by England teammate Joe Hart, this isn’t the first time that Wilshere has been caught abusing his body in the public eye.

After being caught with a cigarette in 2013 and forced to apologise in the press, Arsène Wenger internally dealt with the matter and will be furious to see an identical incident coupled with the guzzling of alcohol in a hotel swimming pool.

With previous Arsenal legends that Wenger has had to work with having severe addiction issues, the manager will feel that his faith in the player has been misguided and will be unhappy to think that Wilshere is heading in the wrong direction of his career.

Two Strikes

Wilshere himself declared after the first incident that,

“I made a mistake, players make mistakes, and I’m not a smoker. I spoke with the boss and he asked me what happened, I explained to him. “

“We sorted it out and he put me in the team and hopefully I repaid him. I’m not a smoker, so I think that will be my last one.”

The Englishman may not be so lucky this time, Wenger telling the media that,

"I disagree completely with that behavior.”

Cause for concern

While Wilshere is young and should be treating his body with the utmost respect during a critical period in his career, it is his bad run of form coupled with substance abuse that is a cause for concern.

Already with his Arsenal place under threat, as well as the impending signing of Sami Khedira, it would be a shame, but a realistic chance that he could find himself frozen out of the club and burnt out of his career.

Shame there are millions who would give anything to be playing for Arsenal and England but this is why england never win world cups you don't see the Germans abusing their body's like that all English players think they are better than they realy are I would have thought the p#%s poor performance in the World Cup would have made them think a bit but just shows they don't give two s@#ts and they wonder why their isn't many engish players in the top 4 prime example right now

Wilshire's going to be another wasted English talent, as he is to thick to take his chance. He never looks fit, one paced, one dimensional, loses possession, falls over hoping for a foul and puffs like a pub league player.

Sell him now Mr Wenger.

He needs to cut it out - he is an elite professional footballer, smoking just doesn't go with that.
If he continues it will affect his career. Cut it out Jack !!!!!

Let the damn guy enjoy himself, for *** sake! Drinking alcohol doesnt mean he is throwing his life away! Dammit! Its off-season, no games now, he is young, and he is human. As long as it doesnt interfere with his professional career, then there is no harm!!!!

He should listern to advice from those above him, this could be a reason why his performance has gone down, instead of improving, even at the world cup, he did not play well, he should be very careful about his carrier. Sporting carrier do not associate much with smoking and drinking from time to time. Its not surprising to see him on the bench at Arsenal from time to time. He should take example of Ramsey.
