Joel Campbell could be one of the players heading out of the exit door on deadline day.

Reports in Portugal suggest that Campbell could be heading to Benfica either on loan or on a permanent transfer.

If Campbell is to go on loan then the deal will command a loan fee of £600,000 or £10 million for the permanent transfer.

Arsenal do not want to see Campbell leave as they have high hopes for him but Campbell is concerned by the lack of first team football he may get.

Therefore, Benfica may tempt him as he will probably play every week which means he can continue developing.

However, there is one part of the equation which hasn’t been mentioned. This deal will only happen if Arsenal sign Monaco forward Falcao.

If Arsenal sign Falcao then it may be worth loaning Campbell although, I would like to see Campbell stay but if it means signing a world class striker then fair enough.

This is a deal that we should keep a close eye on.

Wenger has mishandled Joel Campbell both this and last season when he loaned him to Olympiacos rather than keeping him in England (his visa had come through by then). The fact that Dixon said Wenger was going to sell him during the World cup shows he doesn't care about Joel's progress. Ferguson and Paul Pogba spring to mind.
