After a long and tedious transfer deadline day, England international Danny Welbeck has signed for the Arsenal from Manchester United on a 5 year long deal. Arsenal had to ask the FA for an extension on deadline day to get the deal over the line.

He joins Arsenal for an undisclosed amount rumoured to be around the £16 million region. Welbeck joins Wilshere, Gibbs, Chambers, Walcott, Ramsey and Oxlade-Chamberlain to build on Arsenal British core.

Welbeck has been on the fringes at Manchester United with Robin van Persie,Wayne Rooney and, most recently, Radamel Falcao all ahead of him in the pecking order but because of Olivier Giroud being out till the new year, it is expected that Danny Welbeck will lead the line for Arsenal.

The 23 year old made a total of 90 appearances for Manchester United, scoring 20 goals. He also holds 25 England caps.

A bit of an underwhelming signing according to some because of the names Arsenal have recently been linked with but he does bring with him a great deal of experience both in the domestic league and the Champions League as well and at 23 years of age, he has plenty of time to develop into a great forward for Arsenal Football Club

Not sure why you keep emphasising this British core? England were arguably the worst time in the World Cup so how could this be a positive?

I just hope we wouldn't regret not bringing in dm and cb, eventually.

Some joy at last, not the best signing but at least he will provide another option with his pace, if played as a centre forward.

6/10 for effort in the window transfer, still require a solid centre back, and a holding midfield player. Perhaps in the winter transfer, if we are still in the race for league, cup(s) and European championship.
Still do not understand why Mr Wenger was out of the country, at this most important time!!!!!

The problem we have is we always settle for 2nd or 3rd best players while others settle for the best. This time round finishing 4th is not a guarantee.

Welbeck wasn't the right person to lead the striking line for arsenal.
He will be built just since he is ayoung player,

Statistics suggest that if he is played at centre forward he has the ability to return a goal every two games compared to a goal every seven games when played elsewhere. That's not a bad return when we have Ramsey, Alexis and Ox capable of rushing in and scoring around him. I'm sure he'll improve and find his form with us being higher up the pecking order. I expect good things.

not the superstar signing we had hoped for but a good signing nonetheless. he's got a point to prove as well. wenger still culpable for not improving the dmc and cb positions but we have what we have now.

This is better than you a representing it. With this opportunity Welbeck will shine! His pace will work well with arsenals

Welbeck is good player but he is sometimes playful and careless
