It was reported a few hours ago that Mesut Ozil has completely recovered from his knee ligament injury and Arsene Wenger was delighted to announce that Jack Wilshere could be seen on the pitch much earlier than expected.

He suffered damage to his ankle ligament at the hands of his Manchester United’s Paddy McNair in November and he was expected to be on the sidelines at least for four months.

Arsenal players are lately known to recuperate swiftly and the 23-year-old seems to further reiterate the statement as he’s set to return in five weeks’ time. His premature return means he’ll be back in contention for the Gunners’ Champions League fixture against Monaco.

Arsene Wenger expressed his delight over welcoming his talisman back well ahead of schedule.

“Jack Wilshere is progressing quicker than expected – he could be back by the end of February.”

Wilshere’s return will bolster Arsenal’s squad with the Arsene Wenger determined to add at least one defender before the January transfer window closes.

No matter how good Arsenal looked in the match against Stoke the team needs improvement both upfront and defence. Reliance on Giroud will not be sufficient to carry Arsenal all season. Jack Wilshere should not be rushed back.

Alpha Bangura: Why don't you wait and see until the end of January.... you may have a surprise! I hope so and, if not, I'll join you in criticising Arsene Wenger. I think you are way off calling our team player "dead woods". Did you not hear all the commentators raving about our team today?

Wenger ur excuses every windows period are weak and now looks boren. Instead of you to put life into the team you're hoping on the dead woods you've got. You are not ambitious Wenger. But humiliation will see u off the pitch one day
