Arsene Wenger has lately picked up a habit of signing proven world-class talents and that in turn has made life difficult for underachieving and mediocre players.

According to Eurosport, Mathieu Flamini is set to follow in the footsteps of Lukas Podolski out of the Emirates Stadium to Bastia this summer.

Mikel Arteta has reportedly signed an extension to his contract that will keep him in the English capital for one more season and the Spaniard is expected to play the role of honorary captain while Francis Coquelin starts for the Gunners week in and week out.

In the unlikely event of these two ironmen getting injured, Jack Wilshere, who thrives excellently in a deeper role for England national team, can be deployed as a holding midfielder signaling the redundancy of the role of the former AC Milan midfielder.

Bastia have registered their interest in signing the Frenchman, but they are not financially strong to pay any transfer fee.

They may, thus, be expected to request Arsenal to release him. Even though the London side may be tempted to offload, the deal seems unlikely as the Stade Armand Cesari now need to face a battle to retain their position in the top tier.

Arsenal may still not land a holding midfielder this summer even if they succeed in getting rid of Mathieu Flamini for they can then offer first team minutes to Krystian Bielik.

The FA Cup holders realistically are in no haste to bring down William Carvalho or Morgan Schneiderlin, but given the resources that are endowed with, a defensive midfielder transfer will not come as a surprise.

I sincerely want to see Flamini leave, wonder why Atertas contract should be extended when his contribution last season was far below and considering his age too,I think that is why Wenger is reluctant to buy another CD but that will be a mistake too costly for him Beilik or not.

Actually Arsenal needs a better striker than Giroud
so it will be better if Wenger thinks of sighning
another striker n actually another experienced
defender....

We need a striker !!!! Arsenal is going nowhere with Giroud . During Barclays Asia Cup Final against Everton , you could easily see the frustrations of Ozil , Garzola , Wilshere ,Gibbs etc . They worked so hard to create chances for Giroud but he kept on losing balls and could hardly string a pass . With another striker , Arsenal could have beaten Everton 6-0 . Wenger please safe us the frustration . Giroud is a flash in the pan

If Arsenal buys Higuan I think the striking problem will be some how solved.

How I wish this our gullible manager is unsited, we don't have any confindence of good and problem solved signing in a transfer market. Now he signed a keeper which is far more against what is the pressing issues Arsenal needed. All good managers who wish to succeed in next campaign, are preparing very well against all odds but Wenger busy on rumors and speculations.I see him as the main and cogent problem of Arsenal EPL championship and we can't, because Wenger will never change his failure mentality and that is to SPEND.

I think they have enough players in that position, because there is Coq., Artetta and Bielik who was bought from Poland last year. He is now training with the senior team, so there is no panic for buying a defensive midfielder.
