Arsenal were rumoured to have turned their interest to Robert Lewandowski after missing out on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Karim Benzema, but their bid to land him also seems to have ended in vain.

Reports suggested that the Gunners were all but set to launch an audacious £35million bid for the former Borussia Dortmund marksman, but he was quick to refute such claims stating that he would don the Bayern Munich strip for yet another season.

I don’t believe the fans have already seen the best of me. I can, and will, be even better this season and I’m certain of that. It’s not always easy of course as there are so many factors involved. It’s vital we play well as a team.”

The Emirates Stadium outfit have extended the stay of Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud and that could be regarded as a sign of their disinterest to capture a striker.

Alex Iwobi and the likes may have also given Arsene Wenger a reason to reconsider his decision to make signings this summer.

As the departures of Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo have left voids, the French manager; however, may be forced to make a compromise signing from the limited options available in order to maintain the squad depth.

this business of dilly dallying is what makes Wenger continue fighting for 4th position year in year out. We know that signing marque players depends on their availability and the purse money, but Wenger knew sometime back that his team lacked depth in many areas and he would have started targeting such players and persued them to come to Arsenal. Why is it that every year wenger has to panic or wait for the last moments and make heisty decision buying low quality players who make no impact towards wining the league and challenging for UEFA? we need real trophies now. tired of trying because the money and infrastructure is there now.....

For the past two seasons Arsenal has been playing with 10 men who put in 100% effort and one player who contributes 20.673 % . Giroud is a good player but I think not for Arsenal if the team has any ambitions of winning the EPL . We need a striker . A new Therry Henry who can change a game in the twinkle of the eye . We know Wenger likes Giroud so much but it cannot be over 80% of the fans are screaming for a striker .
