Arsenal have been slammed by their supporters for being reluctant to capture world-class players this summer, but they have decided upon putting an end to the long wait by striking a deal for long-term target Edinson Cavani.

Besides being played out of position by Laurent Blanc, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has also been overshadowing the influence and prowess of the former Napoli marksman and his discontent has been so high lately that he has even taken to the media to express his desire to leave Parc des Princes.

Paris Saint-Germain have apparently received a transfer offer from the Gunners for the Uruguay international, but they may not have ample time to up their bid in the event of their bid not matching the valuation of the French juggernauts. Arsenal may, thus, be forced to wait until January to secure his services, according to Fichajes.

With the departure of a whole host of strikers, the Community Shield holders are undeniably short in terms of numbers and an injury to first-choice centre-forward Olivier Giroud could easily obliterate their chances of achieving their targets this season. It is too big a gamble to challenge for the title with only Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck left to challenge the Frenchman for the starting berth and a world-class addition like Edinson Cavani could easily steer them to Premier League title.

I think this Arsenal team has all the attributes of been a great great team.. with so much talent in the team I seriously think wi a couple 3 more additions to the squad we could be world beaters.. a Striker , another Center half and a holding midfielder

I would be cool with Giroud if he actually was trying to take steps to improve...but currently he has hit the ceiling...

1. He has NO right foot...he avoids whole sections of the box for fear of having to use his right foot.

2. He is SLOW, it is not unheard of for professional athletes to bite the bullet and go to specialty camps. One in particular comes to mind; Michael Johnson Performance, at McKinney, Texas. If the gold medalist can shave .2 or .3 of a second off of a 300+ pound American football lineman, then I´m pretty sure they can teach Olivier the proper way to run on the pitch.

He legitimately thinks he is doing enough to be considered sufficient for Arsenal. sad

This has nothing 2 do with A.W, but with Arsenal Management. If he (A.W) is threatened or forced 2 sign....he will.

+5 #27 Vijender Thakur 2015-08-29 08:37
We jus need a physically strong DM like Sergio busquets not striker.DM was a problem last year too ,when others attack our defense s too easy to breakdown.

Your all just cry babies, Giroud is the King. All powerfull and Wenger is wise and all knowing. He did get us some bad ass goal keeper didnt he :) we dont need another striker with Giroud up front. We might need a DM tough... thanks.
+1 #25 klean 2015-08-29 07:50
From day 1 Giroud is not a player not to even talk of a striker. Y beaching Theo, ox? Why? Winger is sick we understand this. The board is dead we know this. B4 is was building d stadium, now is what? He is always saying getting d right striker. Where is other club getting theirs? I guess from planet Mars.
-6 #24 klean 2015-08-29 07:46
Winger should be sack. He is to weak and stubborn. The entire board is a mess to football and EPL. Sometimes I hate myself choosing AFC, other times I ask myself who is Winger. They ***ing do biz and playing gamble with AFC supporters. Arsene Winger is a dead coach. We need a vibrant and aggressive coach who know how soccer is run in this present days, not a dull man like Winger. Am just sick. Too young to have BP watching AFC.

+1 #22 Sid1983 2015-08-29 04:07
Same old wenger.
Counting pennies while other top 4 teams spend.
Like the last f*****g 10 seasons.
Is it wenger or the board?
Something needs to change or we will be discussing this same time next year.
Gazidis and wenger... Put the business model up ur arse and grow some balls.

It always hard for wanger to sign top class player and it is very easy to sell our good player why wanted, pls we need a top class streker and a DM
+2 #20 Dan Bailey 2015-08-29 01:05
What about this for a crazy idea! . Play Sanchez through the middle? With Ox's desire I believe he could do a job on the left , Walcott right wing , and forget about DM and attack attack attack Rambo Ozil Carzola in that order in midfield! Monreal Paulista Koscielny Bellerin with Chech in Goal. For me we have the main striker in sanchez , Midfield is the headache! Who do u leave out when all fully fit? Or do we even know our best formation?. I really do believe Ox can do left just like Bale for Tottenham , even Dare to put Bellerin at RW instead of walcot Debuchy at RB , Plenty of class at Arsenal but what is our true formation and first eleven, iall players put a shift in like ox and sanchez do, would be happy
+3 #19 Isaac 2015-08-29 00:42
Arsenal needs a big time striker, DM and a defender
+6 #18 Olo 2015-08-28 22:11
We aren't a club that throw money at things, wenger wants to do it the hard way. However I think it's about time he broke that and try to leave more of a legacy than just his financial stability
-2 #17 paddy 2015-08-28 21:12
AW was declared insane 8 yrs ago. I have started thinking his brain is in vegetable state. The whole world knows the problem is a striker even the players..except him. Have you ever observed how orzil, carzo

la and Ramsey look at giroud in the pitch and wondered why Sanchez likes going for the goal alone...there is nobody in the front
-3 #16 #3 2015-08-28 19:20
We need karim benzema Giroud is ***
-3 #15 samuel Caesar 2015-08-28 17:59
U have been soo burdened by the happenings in AFC buh I blame us the fans especially those in London paying high ticket prices. If North London based arsenal fans decide not to buy tickets or go wasting their precious moments on the stand shouting "in Arsene we trust" I assure u that Wenger will be out in d next 3wks. So blame urselves also for not playing ur part as a die hard arsenal fan. I jst wish I am dia.
-5 #14 Destinyrock Piac 2015-08-28 17:52
Arsene is a specialist in failure.... he is simply a selfish ediot,,, the problem is the fans in England that always go to the stadium to watch that fool and go home with a broken heart.. Let every fan stay home while they display their foolishness in the pitch for at least six weeks and see if it will not touch wenger and the selfish Arsenal bored...
-7 #13 Simild Katuta 2015-08-28 17:48
I think we have a good team that can compet with any team of the world, sometime we just need luck because it´s sport and in sport you need luck to win competition.
-4 #12 David Harrison 2015-08-28 17:44
Giroud should not be doing one 2s in the box his job is to put his foot through it. if he can't get someone who can. as for Walcott in 10yrs he still does not know where his best position is. sell wilshere, he is finished, sell Ozil he is a waste of 42mil, and let's get a new manager for our future.
because if we don't spend any money wisely city will get further away.
+4 #11 obama 2015-08-28 16:21
Pls can some1 tell Mr wenger too go 2 Rehab!! Cus I don't understand him, take a look at manchester c & manchester united, Chelsea them all have good strikers but we Arsenal notin. There r all look serious
+6 #10 Sada 2015-08-28 16:02
I am really annoyed and frustrated by the lack of movement to the emirates. AW does not know what he is doing unlike the other managers, as much as I dislike Jose he seems to get the players he wants just like that. Take Pedro for example, one minute he is heading to Utd, the next he is scoring a goal and getting an assist at Chelsea!! Why do we always leave it until the barrel is empty! Why didn't AW pay £50 mil for Suarez instead of that redicilous £40 mil+a £ ... :-(
+8 #9 mike 2015-08-28 15:58
wenger please look at chelsea man city united liverpool and get serious.
+1 #8 Ron aka Papasmurf 2015-08-28 15:58
Yes Wenger needs to get a proven striker and a couple of defenders....we are always riddled with injuries of one kind or another but in the midfield we are quite sorted...forget the likes of Benzema Cavani is ok but not known for too many goals lately....we do need a striker and I would get a decent one if we cant get who we want for now but ultimately I would go for someone like Aubameyang he is gonna be like Neymar/Henry keep an eye on him trust me....Defender wise why the hell don we get Van Djyik(I think thats how his name is spelt) he wants a move away we end up losing out on these players coz Im afraid wenger tries to penny pinch although he has the money to buy them for gods sake just buy them instead of having to go through season after season doin the same last minute deals, look what happened with Suarez, he put in a bid for one pound over the buyout clause how stupid...Saurez was and is worth at least £40mill easy if not more and he would have been worth the gamble coz he WOULD have got us the title.Cmon Wenger stop playing about buy the players we need stop penny pinching we need to be title contenders and champion league contenders
+13 #7 Den 2015-08-28 15:43
Let's get real. Giroud is a very good striker, Walcott brings extreme pace. Do we need additional players- of course but it's not like going out and buying a can of beans. As was said look at the worlds great strikers- they are all employed by cash rich clubs so unless they are desperate to move it simply won't happen. AW is constantly looking it seems but if he buys potential some so called fans moan. If he buys worse than we have people moan. It's about time we recognised that we have been very fortunate to have a great club manager. Is he always right? Course not- but then who is.
Personally I think the main need is a DM not a striker though latter is a big bonus. But do I know how to get one- no I don't. Do you?
-8 #6 sir clement 2015-08-28 15:32
Giroud never help our time. they should let him go. jackson martinez was there but we did not buy. it's giving headech.
+8 #5 francis 2015-08-28 15:19
I wish Wenger would wake up and smell the coffee. Please we cannot have nother season of 4th place finish. What dont you understand about goping out and buying competent players like other Managers are doing to strengthen the team. do you really care about the fans or just the bank account wenger?
+2 #4 joseph ugbenu 2015-08-28 15:13
Wenger has shown to Arsenal fans that the club management have little or no regards for the fans. Too bad and we will all watch him (wenger) cry on the bench as the season progress.
Wenger has been tagged a professional failure and he has accepted that title from his body language.
As far as am concerned neither Giroud or Wallcott has nothing to offer.
+9 #3 TERRY 2015-08-28 15:09
Whilst I am not defending Wenger the top clubs are reluctant to sell on their best players unless you double the value of the player like City do!
Name the best 10 forwards in the world and then ask if they are either for sale or if we can afford them?
Then ask the same of a defensive midfielder and defender.
The very best are hard to buy or afford as the EU clubs play hardball over value of players because the PL is so cash rich.
This still doesn't mean we shouldn't try and bring in 2 more players but it's a question of who is available that's better then what we have.
+1 #2 Ballotelli 2015-08-28 15:01
this is so true ,arsenal need a player like me .....lokl...
+27 #1 lb 2015-08-28 14:41
As much as I would love for this to happen, it is not going to. Wenger is happy with Giroud/Walcott/Welbe ck.

What is going to happen is this: 1) Giroud has a great game against Newcastle tomorrow (probably scores two goals) and then Wenger talks him up as one of the best strikers in the EPL and then says Welbeck is coming back after international break. 2) We do not sign a striker and Giroud goes missing in action again.

Story of Arsenal fan's lives!
