Arsenal have been slammed by their supporters for being reluctant to capture world-class players this summer, but they have decided upon putting an end to the long wait by striking a deal for long-term target Edinson Cavani.
Besides being played out of position by Laurent Blanc, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has also been overshadowing the influence and prowess of the former Napoli marksman and his discontent has been so high lately that he has even taken to the media to express his desire to leave Parc des Princes.
Paris Saint-Germain have apparently received a transfer offer from the Gunners for the Uruguay international, but they may not have ample time to up their bid in the event of their bid not matching the valuation of the French juggernauts. Arsenal may, thus, be forced to wait until January to secure his services, according to Fichajes.
With the departure of a whole host of strikers, the Community Shield holders are undeniably short in terms of numbers and an injury to first-choice centre-forward Olivier Giroud could easily obliterate their chances of achieving their targets this season. It is too big a gamble to challenge for the title with only Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck left to challenge the Frenchman for the starting berth and a world-class addition like Edinson Cavani could easily steer them to Premier League title.
Comments
1. He has NO right foot...he avoids whole sections of the box for fear of having to use his right foot.
2. He is SLOW, it is not unheard of for professional athletes to bite the bullet and go to specialty camps. One in particular comes to mind; Michael Johnson Performance, at McKinney, Texas. If the gold medalist can shave .2 or .3 of a second off of a 300+ pound American football lineman, then I´m pretty sure they can teach Olivier the proper way to run on the pitch.
He legitimately thinks he is doing enough to be considered sufficient for Arsenal. sad
Giroud should be flogged after every match..........
Counting pennies while other top 4 teams spend.
Like the last f*****g 10 seasons.
Is it wenger or the board?
Something needs to change or we will be discussing this same time next year.
Gazidis and wenger... Put the business model up ur arse and grow some balls.
la and Ramsey look at giroud in the pitch and wondered why Sanchez likes going for the goal alone...there is nobody in the front
because if we don't spend any money wisely city will get further away.
Personally I think the main need is a DM not a striker though latter is a big bonus. But do I know how to get one- no I don't. Do you?
Wenger has been tagged a professional failure and he has accepted that title from his body language.
As far as am concerned neither Giroud or Wallcott has nothing to offer.
Name the best 10 forwards in the world and then ask if they are either for sale or if we can afford them?
Then ask the same of a defensive midfielder and defender.
The very best are hard to buy or afford as the EU clubs play hardball over value of players because the PL is so cash rich.
This still doesn't mean we shouldn't try and bring in 2 more players but it's a question of who is available that's better then what we have.
What is going to happen is this: 1) Giroud has a great game against Newcastle tomorrow (probably scores two goals) and then Wenger talks him up as one of the best strikers in the EPL and then says Welbeck is coming back after international break. 2) We do not sign a striker and Giroud goes missing in action again.
Story of Arsenal fan's lives!
