Arsenal strolled by a sloppy Stoke side to climb to the second spot thanks to goals from Theo Walcott and substitute Olivier Giroud, but the Gunners ensured their goal conversion rate remained poor as the striking duo missed a few sitters.

Theo admitted that his name should have appeared on the score-sheet more than once, but expressed his delight to have gone off the mark after a dismal start to the season. He appeared to be altruistic as he called for the fans to recognize the role of midfield anchorman Francis Coquelin in the buildup for the goal while also branding the forty-yard assist from Mesut Ozil as fantastic.

“It is things that people might not notice, like the tackle from Francis. He’s in that position for a reason, you can see it there, and that just started off the rhythm of the movement, obviously the ball from Mesut was fantastic, and it was all down to the touch. It put the defender out of the game. I was pleased with that goal. I was disappointed because I should have got many, many more, but I’m in the chances so I’m happy with that.”

While Chelsea have still not recorded a clean sheet this season, their former employee in Petr Cech already has two clean sheets to his name. The English international stated that not letting the visitors fire beyond the 33-year-old shot-stopper was their prime goal going into the game.

No other team in the Premier League has created more chances than Arsenal this season. The former Southampton starlet reiterated the very stat and seemed to offer the fans some hope as he stated that the players would shortly emulate the displays of the old Arsenal.

“In the end we had a clean sheet and that’s always the most important goal. We know we’re going to score goals and we know we’re going to create chances as well. We create chances so we just have to put them away. We’re starting to get back to the old Arsenal. We’re very pleased after this game.”

Arsene takes his side to Dinamo Zagreb to play their first Champions League fixture of the campaign later this week and no one can really predict who would spearhead the lineup as the two contenders had similar fortunes on Saturday afternoon.
