Speaking to Sky Sports, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has stated that English managers do not get enough opportunities in the Premier League these days.

One of the great things about the Premier League is the rich diversity present in the division. Players from well over 100 countries have plied their trade in the English top flight since the Premier League was introduced in 1992 and such an influx has only contributed to increase in the quality of the league.

A lot of foreign managers have also arrived in England over the past few years and presence of high profile names such as Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and Jurgen Klopp among others, serves as evidence to the attracting power of the Premier League.

On the other side of the spectrum though, the arrival of foreign names has meant that English managers have found it difficult to get opportunities at Premier League teams and currently only five English bosses are present in the division.

Despite being a Frenchman, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has expressed his concern regarding the lack of English managers present in the top flight today.

Ahead of Arsenal’s clash against Bournemouth on Tuesday night, Wenger stated that English managers simply do not get their fair share of chances in the Premier League and hailed Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe for being one of the few homegrown managers to have succeeded in the English top flight in recent times.

Arsene Wenger hails Eddie Howe for his success

He told Sky Sports:"When I arrived, foreign managers did not get a chance because when I arrived here I was a bit lonely. Today it has gone the other way around, the English managers do not get enough chances.

"Howe is one of the counter examples, he is a young promising manager who has got his chance, and he has taken it in a club that established themselves now as a regular competitor in the Premier League.

“So he is an example for all of the young English managers that if you work well, if you work your way through with a club, you can get your chance in the Premier League.”
