Norwich

After the two week international break, the Gunners return to Premier League action and are on the road again looking to continue their impressive start to the season.

Carrow Road is their destination where they will take on the Canaries who have made a very poor start to the season not yet having won a league game and conceding nine goals in their last two games!

Recent meetings

The last time the sides met was in that nail biting 3-3 draw back in May. They’ve only played four games against each other, and in those, Arsenal are unbeaten, winning three and drawing one. Meetings between the sides tend to have a lot of goals in them averaging 4.8 goals per game, so expect an exciting contest!

Team News

As you are all probably aware, Jack Wilshere, Bacary Sagna and Emmanuel Frimpong all completed 90 minutes in a friendly against Chelsea on Wednesday. The long awaited return of these players will certainly be a boost for the team (especially Wilshere!) however I’ve got a feeling this game will be a bit early for them.

News also came through this week that both of our Polish goalkeepers have had setbacks in their comeback from injuries. Fabianski expected to be out for a few months, while Szczesny another few weeks. Kieran Gibbs is a doubt after picking up an injury against West Ham and Theo Walcott is ruled out after picking up an injury whilst playing for England.

For the home side, their biggest worry is Robert Snodgrass. He is hoping to overcome an ankle injury in time for the game on Saturday. Both Whittaker and Lappin are set to return to the squad after overcoming their respective injuries. Other than that, no other worries.

Tactics

Personally, I feel as though we’ve played better on the road this season. Our performance away at West Ham two weeks ago was our best of the season I felt. Last season’s meeting at Carrow Road was a tricky game that we had to fight hard for to get the three points. However, this season I don’t see Norwich as much as a threat (relegation candidates). Since Paul Lambert’s departure they seem to have lost their organisation at the back and it has definitely cost them this season.

If we can win the physical battle in the middle of the park then I think we will win the game with ease. With the quality we possess in midfield I can see us dominating the game. I don’t think Norwich will be able to stay tight on Cazorla which enable him to pull the strings. With Giroud finding form and our pace down the wings I think it will be a goal fest.

Norwich’s main threat will come from set pieces, and one man in particular, Grant Holt. Not as prolific as last season, but he possesses the quality to be there at the right time and put the ball in the back of the net. However, if our defence stays organised I can’t see them being a real threat.

Possible line ups

Arsenal – Mannone, Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Santos, Arteta, Ramsey, Cazorla, Gervinho, Giroud, Podolski

Norwich – Ruddy, Martin, Barnett, Bassong, Garrido, E Bennett, Howson, Tettey, Johnson, Hoolahan, Holt

I think we will get the three points that are needed. If they conceded five against Liverpool in their last home game just imagine how many we could put past them...   COYG!

Definitely agree. Norwich will want to put things right after a few bad games. Tricker game than on paper but if we are switched on from the start, we should have too much for them. These are the games that we need to win. Hope Giroud gets a run in the side now and keeps scoring.
