Overall, it’s not been a bad couple of days for Arsenal fans. Sure, we lost a couple of players, but we’re largely over that, and things are starting to happen both in the transfer market and outside of it to cheer us up.
Nuri Sahin to be announced today?
From a number of reliable twitter accounts comes the news that Nuri Sahin was at Arsenal’s training ground today after a deal was finalised, had his medical and photoshoot, and SHOULD be announced on the Arsenal site tomorrow. Seems a lot of fuss for a loan deal, but there is apparently an option to buy for around 10 million pounds at the end of the loan spell, so I suppose Arsenal are entitled to make a fuss. That and he’s class.
With that said, there are also a number of reports suggesting the move has now stalled, due to Real Madrid either not wanting the option to buy, or raising the price on it after the deal was agreed. Hard to call, really. One way or another it seems most likely that Nuri Sahin will be coming to Arsenal, but for how long is another question.
RVP FLOPS, UNITED IN CRISIS!!!!!
At least, that’s what you would have read if Arsenal played yesterday. Yes, fresh from moving to United, Robin Van Persie not only started on the bench, but came on and did precisely nothing for 20 minutes (apart from two of those rubbish corners he loves doing) in Manchester United’s 1-0 away defeat at Everton.
Apparently he “needs more time”, and “can’t be judged on today”. Funny how Giroud, who was on for the same amount of time and did more that RVP on Saturday, is apparently crap and will never score a goal. Not to say the media are biased or anything....
Still, we shouldn’t write him or United off, it’s just nice to see A. United lose and B. Him not getting the dream debut he probably wanted. Still, he could have been Berbatov, drafted onto the bench as CB cover.
Someone needs to save that man.
Are we going to sign another Marouane?
Probably not. But this is worth having a look at.
Just to clarify, that’s a pretty reliable Arsenal tweeter saying that Everton’s Marouane Fellaini is a favourite of the chief Arsenal scout. Whether he could convince Wenger and Bould to try and bring him in is another question, though Arsenal did go for him first during the Great Trolley Dash of 2011 before ending up with Arteta (not complaining).
I love Fellaini, not going to lie. He’s an absolute beast of a player, who can play as a DM, a CM, or a second striker. He scored Everton’s goal today, and is quite the tall chap as well. Imagine him up front with Giroud. That’d put Stoke off.
Nothing concrete yet. But possible.
Anyway, not much other news today. Until tomorrow.
