UPDATE: RMC Radio in France have confirmed that Koscielny's injury was just a knock, he is now fine and expected to start for France against Japan.

In a typical development for an international break, the news has broken recently that Laurent Koscielny suffered a knee injury while training with the French national team in a collision with Franck Ribery.

The centre-back was helped off the pitch by two people, and to present journalist Julian Laurens the injury 'looked serious'.

Not clear

Despite a number of reports with conflicting information, including one that stated Koscielny was out for three months, it's unknown how serious Koscielny's injury is. All we know is it's a right knee injury that he sustained in a collision. It's standard procedure to remove injured players from the field of play and he wasn't taken to hospital as some reports suggested.

It could be a serious injury, but considering Koscielny didn't go to hospital and could at least walk off the pitch, it doesn't look too bad.

It's what would be considered a 'knock' at the moment, but the wave of press coverage may have made it seem worse than it is.

Don't panic

The Frenchman was key for Arsenal last season but has been in and out of the line-up. Of course it's bad to lose your first change but players like Ignasi Miquel or even Johan Djourou are capable of filling in IF another of Arsenal's defenders is hurt.

Quoting Arsenaaaaal !:
Why do some say it's serious when all we know is that he's got a knock. Knocks can be both very painful and not serious . Can't we just wait to know what he really has before we freak out.

Thats the media for you, they are full of sh1te.
