This morning it was announced that Arsenal have tied up a new shirt sponsorship with the Emirates airlines, the deal is worth £150million. With this deal the airlines retain the naming rights to the Ashburton Grove stadium until 2028, as well as having their name featured on the shirts until 2019.

What does this mean?

Well to start off with the £150million goes a long way to providing resources that can give us the opportunity to push for a couple of big names in the positions we still need to fill.

The money can also be used to help give the club a financial standing when regards to player contract’s, it makes you wonder if had this deal happened over the last December whether we would’ve had the money to keep RvP?

New Transfer Warchest

So given this new financial backing, this epitomises the club being a model of modern football financially, where can the club put the money?

A lot of names would spring to mind but the important thing is that we put our resources to good use.

For example, as well as Gibbs has been playing he still has his injury prone. So for that position I think a good shout would be either Coentrao from Real or Balzaretti from Roma.

Another position that needs more back up is our midfield, this money could go some way to strengthening that department with players like Holtby being linked to the club.

On a defensive midfield front there is still a need for a more out and out player to fill that position, the likes of M’Vila had been linked but maybe looking to the Bundesliga would be a good idea, Lars or Sven Bender are impressive and in great form.

This leaves us with money to go for a good plan B striker or starting striker, the likes of Falcao, Cavani and Huntelaar are names that have been sprayed about but Huntelaar would be the best value for money, he would be an outstanding purchase for the club and the competition would push Giroud to continue his improvement.

Getting some players can really give us a boost as we go into the second half of the season looking to better ourselves and get into the Champions league again. Then build on it for the future.

@trueplayer Finally someone that understands football, Arsenal is a well run business with Wenger the greatest manager in the world given achievements vs resource. They give us fans the right to mix it up with the best who all have unreasonable investments. They have got there through their own class and quality. I hope we do sign players but now sure who would be relegated to squad member. Much more and we'll have the problems city have with too many players

To add to my previous comment. Given how much City get from Etihad, this would have been precedence for this deal to be more worth 600m given the amount of time, then the nonesence you've written here might be potentially true. I'm not sure why we advertising that we are going to struggle for the next 7 years at least.

I'm a gooner for life, but you are living in a dream world. Perhaps a defensive mid and another striker, but Santos would need to go to get another left back, Vermalen does good there anyway! We have too many good mid fielders as it is, Corzola, wilshire, ramsey arteta, rosiky, diaby, coqullan and let's not forget the Ox. Wenger won't even get a striker as Girould will be deemed good enough given the glimmer of form he's shown in only a couple of matches, if theo goes, ok he needs replacing. Arshavin needs to go, as do bendtner and chamack. In terms of big names, how much do you think 150m is, especially as it has to last years. 1 player on 200k a week costs 10.4m a year. Stop dreaming. Until these rich billionaires get board, nothing is going to change no ffp nothing. Creative accounting and what it brings into the economy will mean it will always be this way. Be proud we compete on all fronts every year with everyone. Pray Wenger stays or say hello to mid table Arsenal.

I don't think that we should have anyone challenge Giroud. He's a world class player, for me one of our top 3 this season, behind Walcott and Cazorla. However we need to sort our defensive line out if anything, or a better goalkeeper, we have a good attacking squad, we just need to be a more attacking team, however Falcao would do brilliantly along side Giroud.
