Arsenal's pursuit of David Villa has gone quiet in recent weeks, but this morning newspapers both Spanish and English reported that Arsenal have been boosted by his newfound conviction to leave Barcelona before the transfer window closes.

According Sport.es, a Barcelona-favouring sports paper in Spain, Villa held a meeting with Tito Vilanova in which he stated frankly that he wanted to be elsewhere.

His usage in the team has not increased, despite appearing with two goals in a recent game with Celta Vigo.

Villa has had enough of not being used enough by the manager, and is aware of the interest from numerous Premier League clubs, something that interests him greatly.

Arsenal in particular are his favourite for a move, and he has been speaking to an unnamed member of the Arsenal squad for a while now (likely fellow Spaniard Santi Cazorla) about life in London and the possibility of a move.

Before you start printing Villa 7 Arsenal shirts, it would take a bid of around 17 million or a bit less to convince Barca to release Villa, and Arsene Wenger is unlikely to break his transfer record for a 31 year-old.

Then again, Arsenal do have leverage regarding payments for Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song, so they make be able to negotiate a discount.

True Gooners have the right to critiise our team. Like a family - we bitch and shout - but we remain family. We can never turn away to support another team. Enjoy Man U - like the rest of the non-serious supporters.

I hope one day, Wenger will realize that a club without trophies (honours) have no honour, God help Arsenal FC cos I know he might not buy anybody despite these speculations and poor performances

arsenal has potential but the manager is the problem as in he uses out dated style of the game,if he can use other tactics of the game we can do better.moreso he shld not be an economizer to the club money, never experiment with players let them play where they are supposed to play.we as fans we are getting dishonoured.

The sort of player we should have signed a few years back, if the boss had of signed one marquee signing each season I firmly believe that Cesc and RVP would still be with us. Fingers crossed.

Wenger is making every Gunners fans sick and tired of watching our game with his fake news about transfers and performance this season... He has to go to the market before it close so we can get back to our stand and we'll be happy coz we love him and the club but he doesnt see that as a geniue reason after lot of toothless seasons...God bless Arsenal

We shouldn't get too excited. If Balotelli leaves Citeh, then they'll be looking for reinforcements...
