Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will once again be ruing the international break after reports suggesting a number of regular first teamer's had picked up knocks while away with their respective countries.

Laurent Koscielny and Aaron Ramsey both picked up knocks with France and Wales, respectively, and both are now doubts for Saturday's encounter with Sunderland.

Koscielny is believed to have picked up a calf strain during the 2-1 defeat to Germany on Wednesday night, while Ramsey suffered the same problem in training and played no part during Wales' 2-1 win over Austria.

It adds to another headache for Wenger, who could also be without Thomas Vermaelen for the game with the Black Cats after picking up an ankle knock, forcing him out of Belgium's 2-1 win over Slovakia.

If both Koscielny and Vermaelen fail to prove their fitness in time for Saturday, Wenger could be forced to call out of favour defender Sebastian Squillaci back into first team action and partner the Frenchman with Per Mertesacker in defence.
