There is no question about where Spurs’ biggest threat lies: Gareth Bale.

Spurs have been on a rich vein of form recently under manager Andre Villas-Boas, climbing to 3rd in the table thanks largely to Welsh winger Gareth Bale, who is having the season of his life.

The former Southampton trainee has been the heartbeat of the Spurs side this season and has contributed 15 league goals this campaign, as well as scoring 8 goals in his last 6 games in all competitions. If Arsenal can stop him, then they can stop Spurs.

Spurs will be more desperate than ever to claim a Champions League place this year after being denied last season despite clinching fourth place, due to Chelsea winning the Champions League. With them being placed so favourably in the league this time round, having not lost a league game in 2013, they will be determined not to see themselves out of the running again.

Key Battles

Jenkinson vs Bale: the young Arsenal fullback will have his work cut out if he is to stop the Welshman whose imperious form has propelled Spurs on this season. Bale uses his quick bursts of pace to race past defenders, so Jenkinson will have to be wary not to get caught out by rashly diving in on the Premier leagues in form player.

Wilshere vs Parker: the battle of two English generals in the centre of the park will be an interesting one, with players being very competitive, tough tackling midfielders. The match could be won in midfield, so it is vital that Jack comes out on top.

Arteta vs Holtby: the German international arrived at White Hart Lane in the January transfer window, shortly after his Schalke side had dismantled Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates. Arsenal players will all be aware of the threat he poses, so Arteta will know he has to stifle the attacking midfielder.

It does not matter if you let in 2 goals a game - as long as you score 3. We are short in that department. Spurs will score - we must score more. Watching Real M and Barca twice this week we can see how great players score from very little opportunity. We need one of those.
We have never been good at stopping players playing (Bale)- we need to play better.

Acording to plamer the gunners lost most of the big games the last 7 years whenWenger focussed on the gunners instead of the opponents' strenghts and weaknesses..

Myles Palmer wrote an interseting article about Wenger's tactics. The fm focussed on the gunners with the result the gunners have big ganes in the past 7 years.
i agree 100% with what he wrote. So don't be surprised Bale runsriot and Arsenal lose because Wenger focussed on Arsenal.
Of course when it dusted we will know.
